I looked at enrollment at LC-M, they have 450 more students enrolled than Bridge City...That's bigger than Anahuac, Hardin, and Kountze; and almost as big as Orangefield and Buna's enrollments....I like the preseason games where people choose to play each other.

Old Cardinal if Bridge City ever wants to compete for a state championship play tougher predistrict schedule LC-M is not that good if BC can schedule WOS,Nederland,Jasper teams like that make you a better team in november you guys have a weak district, playing a tougher schedule will get you guys ready for a long playoff run other wise you will never be able to contend for a state run.

A BC vs. Jasper game would probably help both teams. Jasper's playing 4 4a's and Jesuit's a 5a. Most schools don't want to schedule a lower classification and risk a loss to a team that they are supposed to beat.

The Ennis v. Marlin game last year is a great example. Ennis had NOTHING to gain in winning the game and Marlin had EVERYTHING to gain just by playing it. Marlin has a great team capable of beating anyone, but that is one of the reasons they beat Ennis. It'll be a great game again this year, but I doubt if Ennis will play them again after that.

To Mr Wharton(bc 76) You continue to talk about Bridge City's schedule-but I tell you what, they only lost to Jasper and Newton and won 11 other games...I promise you this- had they played Wharton any of the last three years, they would have beat Wharton by 3 or 4 TDs. So why don't you do something to remedy Wharton's performance & scheduling? And we will worry about BCs schedule...

I never said Wharton was a power house team you never know what Wharton team will show up,BC might beat Wharton 3-4 td,but if Wharton was on they would beat BC the same way. When BC can beat Jasper & Newton then i would say you guys could contend for a state championship other wise the 10-11 wins mean nothing if you don't play anybody.

So now someone is saying that BC has a padded schedule.........lol

We play some good teams- you went 5-6 in 2000, 4-6 in 2001, and 7-5 in 2002....I looked at who you played, it was certainly no stiffer than what was scheduled down here...We have played a lot of 4-As and scrimmaged a lot of 4-As in the last 3 years....I am very satisfied with playing 4A LC-M, Newton is a State Contender caliber team, and Liberty is a good playoff level team...We only have 7 Seniors and are rebuilding this year, to schedule any tougher would not do us any good, at this point.

Good grief old card....you shure use your logic to your advantage....you have convinced me that BC could roll over anyone given the chance. (Sound familiar?) That was your post when I used the same logic you just did. Now it seems my logic wasn't such a joke after all....hahahahahahahahaha

Well, it's not this coming Friday, but Port Isabel does play two 4A schools....PSJA Memorial (31-4A playoff team) in Week 1, and Los Fresnos (32-4A Champion, and bi-district champions) in Week 3. Both are "payback" games for Port Isabel.

Old Card, Look out this year LCM might have the best defense they have had in a long time, in both scrimmages they completely shutdown the other number 1's. Offense could be a problem but they are trying a few different things. Good Luck this week.

To LCMBear: I see where Collier-Sharpe is picking the Bears by 8 points, that will be one of the modest of the predictions..The Bears do have a strong defense, thats for sure. Before the year started I thought that BC would lose to LC-M, Liberty and Newton....I had my hopes up after the Cleveland scrimmage, but it was an even-steven deal against the Silsbee Tigers. It should be a close low scoring game!

Old Card, I too am a Old Card but now live in orange, LCM could be good but they will experiment at QB for the first two games between Tardy(Injured last week) Landry (great runner) and soph Dugas (scrambling passer) if one steps up could surprise some people and not finish at the bottom.

We are in the same boat with 4 QBs working out right now. Hunter Hays may still be out with a knee injury-that leaves B.J. Myers(JR.); Broc Haymon(SO.) and Steven Broussard(SR.) alternating...I think he may have assigned each one- according to the distance- from the goalline: each have different skills. What kind of speed does LC-M garner on Offense?

2 tailbacks very quick one from Memorial and if he turns the corner it is over, other is starting safety. QB not as fast as you would like and has been off with injury but should be back. O-line big and very quick. Landry when at QB is quick and they will probably run the soph on JV even though he is the best passer and bring him up from time to time.

I heard that LC-M, has also picked up two star players from last years WO-S starters. With the new highly-skilled pickups; added to make the Offense faster, they should be real tough. That defense is already good and consistent!
