Cuero definitely stays at #1,to be able to pull out a close win like that deserves some recognition..,rivalry games can be surprising....Wharton should move up in the polls..peace

Wharton was definitely there to PLAY! I'm proud of our boys. A win would be nice, but they proved a lot tonight. Defense, you guys were awesome and the offense got it clicking. It was another heart pounding game, that's for sure.

#3, you still went out and made history and I'm proud of ya.

Great game Tigers, you guys were great!

#3, you still went out and made history like I asked ya too, even in defeat, and I'm so very proud of ya. I told ya last year I knew you would be awesome!

Great game Tigers, you guys were great!

Ooops, I didn't mean to quote myself, after game crazies, I guess.

heck yeah there is no reason wharton should hang their heads.....i can see why the would be a little upset because it was a close game but without pierre they really shouldnt be hanging their heads....im glad cuero pulled this out but this game showed why i picked wharton as my sleeper team....i seriuosly hope we dont have to meet up with these guys again...cuz these close games are freakin intense....all i can say though is wassup gobblers....keep it up....

quote from the Victoria Advocate:
- Sports Last updated: September 10 02:00:32 AM

Kicker Aric Kohl prepared to kick the extra point and Wharton called time out.

"We called time out to ice the kicker and to talk about our rush," Roberts said. "We they lined up to go for two we tried to call time out and the ref wouldn't give it to me."

:DThat's how it works in HS Football.. 3 time outs.. you take 3 and that's all you get!

**disclaimer, if I am wrong, shoot me, I haven't had much sleep.. sorry :)

ouch - I hate it when I'm wrong :)

Our very own We're Back had 189 yards passing and 81 yards rushing... way to go, Kyle...

chubbed_up had 2 catches for 36 yards, one a great catch and the other a good catch with a punishing blow into the endzone knocking off a Wharton players helmet...

what a slugfest...

Cuero had 199 yards rushing and 189 passing...

Wharton had 118 rushing and 128 passing...

do not have first downs etc... had to add up the individual stats from the article... and yes I took out the negatives for Cuero ha...

This was a lot closer than I thought it was going to be. Great to see the Gobblers pull out the win. Looks like the Cuero-Wharton game is turning into a rivalry. Kudos to both teams.

wharton couldnt call timeout because a team cant call two timeouts in a row before theres a play. i also heard noack played most of the game after cracking his rib.

That's what I was thinking...

But the UIL goes by NCAA rules and I know you can call multiple timeouts during an NCAA game in between plays...

Example would be UT and Michigan last year... Michigan called all 3 of their timeouts in between the last play and the game-winning FG attempt...
