...but I'm going to make my first visit to the legendary Gruene Hall next weekend. For those familiar with the area, where's the best place to stay and some good restaurants? Any help would be greatly appreciated...

i'm your man for that question.......spent two summers in that area.......right next too gruene hall is the grist mill, they don't take reservations on the weekend so you'll have too just to wait like 45 minutes.......it's decent food, but it's more about the experience....and if you walk just a few stores down near the river there is this little hole in the wall bar b q joint

I like rooms 606, 607 or 608...They aren't fancy, but these are upstairs and do have a balcony and patio furniture.

The pool is in the center of the motel with rooms on all four sides. The pool has cabanas with ceiling fans and Domino's delivers poolside.:D

ohhhh....and their restaurant serves a great breakfast!
