Well, may take a while, depends on what Matt's top 10 does... a few could lose and open up a spot for Wimberly...

Wimberly started off slow last year as well and haven't really had any impressive wins so far... may not be long... we'll see

yeah wimberley's preseason is going about the same as last year. i guess they dont really put too much effort into these games that dont really matter.

Daingerfield is a better team than Tatum based on what I've seen. The Tigers have been very impressive thus far even though they are playing somewhat unimpressive teams (Pittsburg and 4A Mt. Pleasant) (Sorry to call Pittsburg unimpressive Carl Padilla! I know that just breaks your little heart.) Anyhoo, I would flip those two.
I think Gilmer is too high. We are a very young, inexperienced team, and we have played our own unimpressive teams. We don't play a team with any real substance until Daingerfield in Week 4. Lindale and 4A Paris wait between the Buckeyes and a date with the Tigers. Neither team poses a real threat in my opinion. Lindale is very uncharacteristically weak this year. Week 4 will show what kind of team Gilmer has.
Brownsboro will fall, and they will fall hard. They may win another game or two before the start of district play, but that's it unless they squeak out a win against Bullard. The Brownsboro Bears are not a top 75 team; much less a top 25 team.

Matt! These are only my opinions.

Hey Matthew, thanks for not dropping Bellville out of your top 25, just keep in mind we started the season with 3 top teams in the state won the first, and gave Yoe all they wanted and almost got the upset, now we go to Marlin. But after that we will be favored the rest of the way through District and hopefully go 8-2. If we dont get the upset friday night dont forget about this young team from Bellville.

Dont understand how can Snyder be top 10 and Sweetwater be in the top 20 they both return the same. Please explanin this one I can understand Wylie but Sweetwater destroyed Snyder last year.

But didn't Snyder beat Sweetwater in the playoffs? I believe it was a close one though...

These are his rankings... He feels Snyder has a better shot than Sweetwater... the rankings will change if Sweetwater beats Snyder in district... but last year's 'playoff' game featuring the two was a Snyder win...

Sweetwater won the regular season game 35-25.
Snyder won the playoff game 21-20.

Both return tons of great players, should be another good one. Wylie is a top 5 team as well.

Snyder and Sweetwater will play itself out.....last meeting Snyder won so gotta give them higher nod right now.....

Brownsboro has surprised me....they were impressive in their scrimmage against Crandall....they also beat a pretty good Kaufman team and a 4A school in Mabank...I think they are better than people think......

notice how almost anything that has to do with rankings always comes down to snyder and sweetwater...i think that just shows that we're a true rivalry...and when we play....good gosh sweetwaters gotta prove that they can still win, and snyders gotta try and prove that we can beat s'water....

Matthew I am sure you don't know this, but Decatur kicked Kennedale pretty well in thier scrimmage. It seems that Kennedale has earned a reputation throughout the years, but the last two years, they have been overrated. IMHO

Texasprepxtra.com has Columbia ranked number 4. This poll its number 9. Texasfootballrating.com its number 11. Dave cambels is number 8. AP poll were around 15 I believe. My question is which poll tends to be more accurate?

The only thing that really matters is who ends up in that playoff bracket.

If West Columbia looses to BH on the 23rd, trust me, your rank will fall like a tree. Polls never favor BH much. If your from WOS or Jasper you can get beat by the girls volleyball team (or Kirbyville...same difference) and ONLY move down one notch. Look at last year when Huffman, having not been ranked, beat WOS in the playoffs. Low and behold, here WOS is again this year.....top 10 and still no Huffman.

Polls are opinions.....or some crazy statistical B.S. It's all in the fun and what keeps you from doing your job during the day.

hey now bulldogbark it took me a whole season to get Jody to pick on WO-S and leave Jasper alone..don't get him going again. He is a pesky little fella.

To answer your signature question...probably for those two state championship trophies they own versus our zero!

Sorry, that was the only team on the Golden Triangle who was smart enough to find their way straight down I-10 and back. Your right though, we do need to stay out of that Golden Triangle area. There really isn't much competition over their. Rivalries, YES, COMPETITION, NO. :D

We will have our hands full with a West Columbia team in a few weeks. Trust me, WOS does not want any of them, as Cuero may very well find out this year.

What was the score last year? They are a good team and I think better this year. Do you feel Cuero is better than last year?

21-7 in bi-district...

Yah, the offense is more versatile, faster... experience is lacking on the line but they've done very well so far and are gelling... this is the third season under this system and coach, so they're a step ahead of last year... offensive line is also a tad faster all-around than last year, and the size isn't bad, last year's was huge... huge threats at receiver and pretty deep at RB (Latreal Cooper is still second string, committed to A&M this offseason)... Deep at FB, some real nice FB's coming out of the backfield...

The defense is faster, better... most improvement is in the secondary, they're taller than last year and quicker all-around, which is good because that is what hurt us last year... we got one of our starting LB's back who missed the last 14 games with an injury, he's awesome... have some headhunters on that D...

I'd compare them to last year's team, cept faster and more experience in the system, just not as much playing together on the varsity field, but that should be fixed by the time the playoffs roll around...

I think if Cuero and Columbia hook up it'll be a tougher game than last year, they're bringing back some very good athletes and are some dedicated kids with great coaching... but Cuero still may go D2 so I dunno if that match-up will even happen yet...

Hopefully both teams would reach the game injury free so we can see a great slugfest...

Not really, I just said they suck. I have no factual basis for this and because they are so good, most people discount it anyways. It's called smack not fact...........

Now come Monday....boy look out. I will be a WOS expert....:D

Sweetwater has a very good football team. Good coaching, they have a lot of speed and these guys will be very hard to beat this year. The Mustangs will move up in Matt's poll.
