CLEMSON -- The coin toss for tonight's Clemson vs. Texas A&M football game will conducted live -- from Baghdad, Iraq.

It is believed to be the first time a live coin toss from Iraq has taken place for a college football game.

United States military personnel who are supporters of either Clemson or Texas A&M will be in attendance for the coin toss, which will be shown on ABC and in the stadium over Clemson's new video scoreboard.

The coin toss -- which will be performed by 2003 Clemson graduate Lt. Jimmy Sanders -- has been coordinated by Captain Bill Parker, a former Clemson professor of military science stationed in Iraq.

Also in attendance will be Clemson representatives First Lt. Sarah Hawkins, Master Sgt. Levi Kenner, Sgt. Terence D'Alesandro and Charles K. Bush.

Texas A&M will be represented by Brett Burroughs, Maj. Christopher Leist, Maj. Paul McKenna, Lt. Col. Dwight Mentzer, Maj. John Athey, Col. Peter Neilsen and First Lt. Jeff Loarin-Clark.

The event is part of Military Appreciation Day, which will be celebrated at tonight's game. Clemson, which was a military school until 1955, honors its military heritage at a football game each year.

Both teams, in fact, have a strong military history -- Texas A&M and Clemson ranked Nos. 1 and 2 nationally in the number of alumni who served as officers in the United States Army in World War II
