UT has played a lot of games that weren't decided till the last few seconds but these are ones that both sides had a good chance to win on the last play of the game. Here is some history.

In 1987 Arkansas had a 14 to 10 win with Texas on the 18 yard line with time for one more play. Bret Stafford threw a pass to Tony Jones who was just over the goal line. As the ball got to him Jones took a couple of hard hits from the Arksansas defenders but held on to the ball to give UT the win 16 to 14. Since only the offense could score on extra points the officials ended the game there since time had expired and the outcome wouldn't have been changed. This was the first time in UT football history that the game was decided on the final play of the game.

In 1990 Texas vs Oklahoma Texas was winning 14 to 13. As time was running out OK got to the UT 29 yard and tried a 46 yard field goal to win the game on the last play. The kick sailed wide left thus saving the win for UT.

Another great win was in 1995 when Texas was losing to Virginia 16 to 14. On the last play of the game UT's Phil Dawson became the first kicker to win a game on the final play with a 50 yard field goal that won it for Texas 17 to 16.

This next one may not count but in 2002 Texas was ahead of Kansas State 17 to 14 but on the final play Kansas State attemped a field goal which would have sent the game to overtime but the UT defenders blocked the kick.

Of course we know about the Rose Bowl game this year when Texas won 38 to 37 on the last play field goal.
