The tower will be lite up tonight in honor of the Lady Horns Track and Field Team winning the 2005 National Championship. The Coach waited till tonight so the whole track team could be there to enjoy it. I have seen it in person when it was lite up for the swimming national championship team a few years ago and it is a beautiful site to see indeed.

Thanks for the picture AggieJohn! Keep them coming. I had a nephew that played for the Aggies 12th man team back when they had it. He made the last tackle on the last kickoff of the UT vs Texas game. The Aggies won by a 16 to 3 score I think. It was to be Freddie Akers last game as head coach of the Texas Longhorns.

they still have a 12th Man. He is a glorified walk-on who plays special teams and wears the no. 12 jersey.

Back then when my nephew played they had ex high school players that represented the 12th men. They had them on the Aggie kick off teams. They did a great job for them.

the 12th man was a former 3a football player last year

good thing u.t. has sports other than football who contend for national championships, otherwise all y'all would have is fond memories of the "spectacle." Did they light it up after they killed off Charles Whitman? That's a victory, right?

Are the Mods reading this?

That was uncalled for.

And how and why did this turn into an A&M football thread when the original post had nothing to do with it?

Whining huh?

I'm just following the rules they asked us to follow. Guess that's a little hard for you to comprehend.

And Phil, I'm probably not going to go to the ceremony. I live up north now and with gas prices, it's just not worth it to go downtown from Mopac and Parmer.

Went to the Tower lighting this summer for the Baseball Championship. There must have been 5000 or so folks that were there. I met my kids there, took pics, then went to Scholz's for a cool one. It was a great evening.
