i agree gob, same for our district, but its always bout the same story....Sinton locks in the 1st playoff spot, then Ingleside, AP and one other always battle for the 2nd spot.

here's how 30-3A looks after week zero...

in no particular order....

Aransas Pass 1-0 (W 28-26 over San Diego)
Ingleside 1-0 (W 48-0 over Bishop)
Sinton 1-0 (W over Taft 53-0)
Goliad 0-1 (L to Victoria St. Joseph 7-27)
Mathis 0-1 (L to Odem 19-32)

I have but one question....does anyone have a scoop on Odem? are they that good or is Mathis that bad?

According to Caller, Mathis started off good, scoring the first 19 points in the first and early second quarter. But, just like last season, they failed to preserve their lead and let Odem narrow the gap before halftime. Their offense was storming on the back of big plays and Amos Blanche's 200+ yards, but their defense couldn't keep up with an inspired Odem offense. Gonna be a tough year for them.

There's the game story.

248 yards from your feature back isn't enough to do the job when you throw four interceptions, get sacked and fumble, and get a punt blocked. Jeez.

WOW...sounds like hes the one-man show down there in Mathis. but w/ 4 ints. and whatnot....and a running game like that...i dont think i'd be doin much throwing to begin with.

Zepeda needs to rethink his strategy. We made it to state in '99 by running it up the middle. That first-year quarterback doesn't need to be throwing the ball four times in a game, much less four times for interceptions. Ball control will be key for this team.
