Week 1 Game of the Week: Burnet vs Liberty Hill

It's time for the annual Battle of Hwy 29. Former district foes match up once again in what has become a game where the fans have serious debate, but mutual respect. It should be a slobberknocker. :D

Burnet returns several starters, including former LH student, Stifflemire(sp) at QB.

Liberty Hill has Kociuba returning this week, and with Escamilla, Shrock & Bode on offense, we should be tough. Several defensive standouts, including McComas & newcomer Lattimore, should have the defense raring to go.

The flag signing/picture will be at 6 or shortly after, near the concession stands. Be there or be square. :p

Well,if you would've asked me last week. I would've said Burnet BUT after seeing them against Taylor,I've changed my mind. Burnet looked terrible offensively and their defense couldn't stop the run. Running the ball is LH forte. But I think Burnet will come out fired up because it is a rivalry game. I'm still picking LH in this one by 4 points. Revenge is sweet,enjoy it LH!!!

Liberty Hill will put this one away early. If Burnett can't stop the run then there is no chance they will win. Hows LH passing game look?

I'll just say it's always a surprise to folks who have seen us play over the years. :evillaugh :evillaugh Bode's got a good arm, from what I've seen so far. He originally was set to play DB, I believe, but with Perrin hurt, he was needed at QB. He started @ Ingram last year as a sophomore at QB.

I understand Salado's in the top 10 in several polls. I'm pretty sure they're pushing 3a numbers and should win their district handily. Last minute adjustments in our personnel to cover injuries hurt some, but with the practice this coming week, we'll be ready to go.

2nd string QB is now playing and Kociuba sat out with his knee, but should be back this week, since he practiced last week.

i gotta back my dawgs in this one..... i would hate to see us loose to well YALL..... but u know if we do i think we would still be in the lead with wins haha.... lets see what 06 has.... i mean they arent like our 05 studs but i think they can get the job done just b/c we hate yall soooo much hahah!!!!

It's only friendly when we're the heavy favorite.:p I'm still going to go with my DAWGS by 7. There is one thing most are seeming to forget this year with the game speedily approaching us. The outcome will remain the same, because afterall, we're still Burnet, and ya'll are still Liberty Hill!:D Dawgs take another one! How'd you girls like that?:eek:

It's no secret that we didn't play well last week against Taylor. BUT, we gave up 26 points to 4A Taylor, Liberty Hill gave up 39 points to 2A Salado. Will our offense score 39 against Liberty Hill? Probably not. Will we give up 55 points to Liberty Hill? Probably not. Point being, we're not playing Taylor, and yall aren't playing Salado. These should be two evenly matched teams, playing their arch rivals in a game with reversed roles this season. Liberty Hill being the heavy favorite. I expect another classic game before a packed house. If the Panthers are to beat us in our house in Burnet, I'll be the first to give them their props. We haven's lost a regular season game at home since 2000. What happens 'if' Burnet gets a lead? Does a little birdy pop up in the heads of the Panther players and remind them, ooops, we're playing BURNET?:eek:

I'll gladly talk some smack with you Panthers, yall obliged us when the shoe was on the other foot. It's a Texas high school 'rivalry' game, win or lose, it's still GREAT!:)

Well, some of you may have already seen my post on this subject on one of the other sites, but this is my take on the game this week......

I predict that this could be a high scoring game for both sides. I think it could go either way, tunovers and penalties could be a major factor in who wins this game.
Burnet's defense struggled last week and will have trouble with Liberty Hill's offense. The fact that Liberty Hill's defense gave up 39 points to a 2A school last week, tells me that they have some problems of their own.
Having seen first hand last year what a huge difference there can be between 3A and 4A football, there is no doubt in my mind that if Burnet had been playing a 2A school last Friday, the score would have been much different. I don't think last weeks games are a good indication of what Burnet or Liberty Hill has this year. We will know a lot more about both teams after this Friday. Both teams have suffered early injuries this year and I pray that both have a good injury free game this Friday night.

Naturally I will stand by my Bulldogs. I know their working hard this week to prepare for this game and I expect some adjustments are being made. There is no shortage of talent on the team and the coaching staff is second to none. If they can just pull it all together they can get it done. I totally believe in these guys.

To all my Liberty Hill friends, this is the only game of the year that I don't back the Panthers. Best of luck, if its meant to be your year, it will be. I look forward to seeing some of you Friday night. I have no doubt it will be an exciting game.

I will definatly try to be there by 6:00 if at all possible. The area between the "Dog Pound" (the place their cooking the hamburgers) and the old concession stand would probably be the best spot to meet. I look forward to seeing everyone! :)
