Probably the biggest surprise was Hempstead's win over Brookshire, who is ranked very high in 2A. Congrats to them.

Hempstead may be the surprise of the district. Everyone knows they have the talent, but have never been able to gel. Maybe, this will be the year that this happens.

Hempstead defeated a very good 2A team in Brookshire Royal. Something growing in Hempstead besides Lawrence Marshall and those famous watermelons?

Meaning he is still in school in Hempstead, or he playes for Sealy and stayed in Hempstead during Sealys 47-0 loss to giddings?

I'm not sure if the QB was the player rumored to be moving to Sealy. I thought it was the WR Terrance Tolliver who was all district as a freshman at 4A Huntsville before moving to Hempstead last year. Either way, Tolliver had 1 catch vs. Royal according to the Chronicles online stats. I think Van Duren did most of the damage, and I think he might be their QB.

Giddings has good team. not surprised by their win over sealy, but the lopsided score is somewhat of a surprise. What went wrong for tigers, anyone? Or was it simply too much buffaloes?

Sealy had 5 lost fumbles and couldn't stop Gidding's ground game. Giddings looks to be a better team than most people expected. I know they impressed me at the Bellville/Giddings scrimmage.
