For those interested here is a history of women's college soccer national championships since it started in 1982. Bear in mind these teams have won it in playoffs every year with no controversy or BCS nonsense.

From 1982 until 2000 North Carolina won it every year except for three years in 1985 when George Mason won it, 1995 when Notre Dame won it and 1998 when Florida won it. Since 2001 it has been more competitive as other colleges have stepped up the women's soccer program and got active in recruiting. North Carolina still gets good recruits and will still be a power but the time when they would win it every year is probably a thing of the past as more and more girls play soccer and are good at it and will go elsewhere to get PT. Since 2001 there has been a different winner each year: 2001: Santa Clara 2002: Portland 2003: North Caroline and 2004: Notre Dame.

2005 will be interesting because North Carolina will be good as well as UCLA, Penn State, Notre Dame, Texas A&M, Texas, Florida, etc. Anything can happen and it should be a great entertaining year.

The Rice Owls Lady Soccer Team will open the season with Auburn on Friday and it will include a number of big name teams. This should be a big year for the team.
