Wasn't the 1973 game played when Cuero was ranked number 1 and GP was ranked number 2. They played in Corpus in front of 20,000 people. Dang I bet that was a good one!

Sinton has been kicked around by GP quite a bit. I hope the next 18 games are a little more even.:)

next week the pirates start the trend of winning against GP. That would make it 2-2 for the past 4 games after next week game.

Cuero holds a 4-0 record I don,t think you can count 1935 as a G-P team because back then it was just Gregory. I know because my dad went to school there at that time and played football and his football sweatshirt was red and navy blue with the letter G. I don't think Portland existed back then.:D

So we should just be called -Portland Wildcats? Drop the Gregory, and take one more loss off your pirates, heh? That will make you feel better?

The 1970 Sinton team was better than Gp's. You just had a better coach.......and qb.

Hey GP83 for most of his years at G-P Coach Akins had two outstanding assistant coaches. Coach Rettig who helped Coach Akins with the offense and Coach Faylor (spelling?) who coached the defense. What was rare at the time was that they were part of the few assistant football coaches that only coached football. Falor was well thought of by his players. In fact when the had a reunion of the teams that had won ten straght district championships he was given the credit by one of the top defensive players for his development as a player because Faylor was his main coach.

Coach Rettig was my math teacher and my drivers ed teacher. He became principle after I graduated. Coach Harris, Robinson and coach Mircovich were asst's when I was there. I never heard of Faylor, so he was before my time.

Where do you get "then" (implying as a result of). You've BEEN claiming it for three years now. What's new? I just wish we had played in '01.

Hey 66 even Calallen wouldn't have played our 01 team! No disrepect to Calallen intended because it would have actually been smart of them not to have played that team.

I know nothing about ya'lls 01 team. What was special about it and how far did it go?

Sinton went to the finals that year with a young and hungry team. Most talented in years.

Pretty impressive. That year we lost to Cal Allen 18-0. It would have been a great matchup to see between us two. It was Harris's first year is all I remember. We lost to SA Roosevelt 6-13 in first round who went to the State Finals in Div 1

If that game was in SA I might have been at that game(I don't think it was though). I go to most ones at the Alamodome in the playoffs. My wife is from Portland.

We played them back to back years in the playoffs and lost both. First year was in SA and second had to be in Portland, but for some reason I didn't attend.
