What is the worst you have ever beaten a team? I heard stories of how BH beat Deweyville 99-0, and that was with switching the wide receivers to linemen and vice versa at halftime.

When I was at Freer we played Corpus Christi Acadamy at the time and this was in the early 60s and Freer had a 53 to 0 at the end of the third quarter. I could probably have been twice as much but our coach put in second and third stringers and we still were scoring. I remember at halftime they called some of the B teamers (junior varsity now - they didn't have freshmen players) out of the stands to suit up and the scoring still continued. At the end of the third the coaches from Corpus Christi Academy pulled their team off the field and forfeited the game which is listed in the records as a 1 - 0 win for Freer. I don't know what it would have been had they played. After the game they said they would never play Freer again and they haven't as far as I know. The thing is that several years later they were state champions in their league (I think it was a private school league) but all I could think about when the Corpus Christi papers were bragging on them was that 53 to 0 third quarter game that they quit. Freer did everything in that game to keep the score down.

The worst beating we gave a team while I was on the team was either the 49-0 against Goliad in '00 or the 49-6 against Industrial in '99... The one against Industrial was 42-zip at halftime...

When I was a freshmen the varsity gave out a lot of beatings ('97)...

41-0 over Bellville in pre-district...

District went as follows:

57-0 over San Antonio Cole
56-0 over Kenedy
56-0 oer La Vernia
41-0 over Luling
42-0 over Yoakum...

Playoffs that year was 67-20 over Mathis

Then in the 4th round Sealy gave us a taste of our own medicine with a 31-0..

Sealy beat Newton 82-6 in '95... that was a beating right there... only beat us 17-14, that was a dang good team...

The worst I ever remember getting beat was 82-6, if I remember correctly. I was in 7th or 8th grade at Amherst and Springlake-Earth was extremely tough that year. :( The weather was almost as bad as the beating. Semi- cold front moved in along with rain; it was miserable.

I can remember Everman kicking Field goals on 3rd down to keep from totally destroying teams in the playoffs.

How about when Sealy beat a pretty good Newton team 83-0 within the last ten years. I pulled the chains when Bh was beating Huffman 44-0 and could have scored over ninety if they wanted. I forgot the final but they took it easy if that was possible.

I remember Sweetwater beating Ft. Stockton and Pecos 60-0 a few times. The worst beating we gave anyone in high school was prolly my senior year when we beat Greenwood something like 42-12.

the most coach whitmire ever went up on anyone was in the 50's, LW scored 57-0 against carter-riverside our season opener my senior year. i think the worst beating ive ever seen LW get was in 2000 when we played commerce at the area championship the score was 49-7 or 49-14 i think. they killed us. then won the state championship a few weeks later.

There are blowouts and even though there are some I don't think coaches and teams run up the score on purpose. It is just you have to be careful. Also most teams play their first stringers a while because it is an insult to the other team if you just play second stringers even if they whip your first string. Plus when the first stringers are pulled the second and third and fourth stringers are going to do their best while your first string is probably tired and beat. So it is a no win situation in a blowout. Plus you have to be careful because you never know what will happen even when you think you have a safe lead. I remember in 1968 Arkansas had a great team and SMU had an explosive team with Jerry Levias who was a great wide receiver. Arkansas dominated for three quarters and had a 35 to 0 lead at the end of the fourth quarter! In the last few seconds of the third quarter Arkansas had the ball just past midfield with fourth and one and went for it rather than punt it and be safe and it almost proved costly. SMU held and it was a brand new game. SMU esploded in the fourth quarter and scored 29 points. After SMU's last td it came to an onside kick and had SMU recovered there would have been a minute to play and with their offense they would have had time to score. Arkansas recovered the on side kick and that was the game. So you have to be careful even with big leads.

The most lopsided Jasper PLAYOFF win I ever saw was against Crosby in a bi-district game in 1984. It was a pretty cold night so my son went to stand in the line to buy a cup of hot chocolate. By the time he got back to the stands Jasper was already up by 49-0. Jasper took out the first string RB's in the second half and the final score was 70-0. The amazing thing was that Crosby was not a "bad" team, they had an 8-2 record coming into that game.

In 1966 Bishop had a great team and ran over everyone easily. Tuloso-Midway had a good team but not as good as Bishop. Remember only one team in the district made the playoffs and they were both in the same district. After two district games that Bishop won easily it was reported by T-M to the UIL that Biship had used an ineligible player that had transferred from T-M and Bishop had to forfeit the games he played in which included the two district games which gave T-M a two game lead in the district. The two teams met in the last game of the season and T-M already had the district won because of the two forfeits. That was basically Bishop's playoff to them because many folks thought maybe T-M on purposely waited till two district games were played to report it instead of earlier and there may or may not be anything to it. The sad thing is that the player was not one of the main starters. Anyway Bishop destroyed T-M that day 60 to 0. Would the game have been closer if the two teams were just playing for district with no forfeits? Who knows but Bishop was motivated with extra incentive and it worked. I think it may have been so because I was at Freer and Bishop beat us 16 to 12 and we beat T-M 9 to 6 so I think the game could have been much closer than the route that happened. Anyway it was a shame for a great Bishop team and it was a no win situation because Bishop destroyed T-M which lost it's momentum going into the playoffs and lost the first round game.

My Dad told me about that game my uncle played on that 71 team. They ran up the score because the year before Deweyville ran up the score in basketball and after the game our coach told their coach yall got one coming in football. My uncle said they stop scoring at the end because the scoreboard only had two digits. But then again i guess all football scoreboards do.

In that Sealy-Newton game at Huntsville, Sealy played an entire freshman front seven except for ML during most of the second half. It was just one of those games where every bounce went against Newton. The Sealy coaches started subbing in JV and freshman players in the second quarter and the score just kept mounting. Newton's coach said after the game it was just one of those wierd things and he had no hard feelings. Showed a lot of class and got a measure of revenge several years later by beating Sealy in the playoffs, but not by much.

If memory serves me right, it must have been 1978 when the Port Isabel Tarpons played the Hidalgo Pirates in their first ever meeting. The Pirates scored the first touchdown of the game and P.I. proceeded to score 86 unanswered points for an 86-6 final, this was the most lopsided victory in the history of P.I. On the other hand, the Tarpons did get their worst beating at the hands of a great Gobbler team during the playoffs in the early 90's. It was soething like 68- 12 or something like that. That one really stung. We were fortunate enough to redeem our defeat a year later by beating them in the playoffs in one of the most memorable games in our history:clap:

RX Freer did a similar thing in a playoff game with Brackettville about ten years ago. On the first play after the kickoff a Brackettville receiver got open and caught a long td pass for a 7 to 0 lead. If they hoped for an upset it was quickly dashed as Freer got the kickoff and moved for a td to tie it. The Freer defense toughened and held and then the offense moved for another td to put the Buckaroos ahead for good 14 to 7. After that the rout was on and by the end of the first quarter Freer had a 28 to 7 lead and was on the way to a final 70 to 7 playoff route. That was the first time since the mid 50s that a Freer team was still playing football in December. It turned out to be the last time since then.
