I think that the three greatest could be Daingerfield in the early eighties ,followed bySealy with Eric Dickerson,or maybe Cureo when Robert Strait.

That defense was something else (D'field '83)...

And I know a lot of people will give Sealy the 'they were 2A at that time' treatment, but in '78 when that title was won, 2A was what is now 3A... so I'll buy that...

Strait was a stud, no doubt, but so was that defense...

Didn't get to see the great old teams from Cuero, but the '95 Sealy team was mighty good. The Tiger placekicker scored more points that year than all 16 opponents combined. The '78 2A champs with Dickerson were good, but they didn't have the depth to play with the 3A teams. Lots of the '78 team went both ways, including Eric. Most remarkable thing I remember about the '78 team was that about half of the starters were honor graduates. I believe the QB, Scott Abel, was valedictorian. Don't see that much anymore.

Brownwood in the 60's...Cuero in the early 70's...Daingerfield in the mid 80's...Sealy in the 90's...

If most of your starters, including your star have to go both ways, then that is a GREAT team... which is why they're one of the greatest...

Atlanta in 03 was one of the best I have seen recently. They had an awesome defense.

I thought we already covered this and it was decided that Daingerfield's 83 team was hands down the best football team to ever come out of 3A.
