Abilene Wylie's Hugh Sandifer could win at any school in the state.

I went with G.A. Moore

Port Isabel has ALWAYS been a running team first, passing second. G.A. is the only one on that list that I'm aware of (other than Gordon Wood) that doesn't run that blasted Shotgun Spread crap that everyone seems to want to run now.

You want to run Shotgun Spread? Play flag football.

That list is good, but I would jump on Dan Ray Hooks in a sec. if he became available!

Yeah, my vote goes to Hugh Sandifer at A. Wylie. Look at what he's done there.

I don't want to bash on Kyle Story, but what is his overall coaching record?? He's had a few good teams but only in recent years have I heard his name come up.

if i remember correctly, gainesville is a run first team. they also line up in the shotgun spread 99% of the time. in the last few years what has the power running game done. GA's old celina team even throws the ball now.

You have Kyle Story (HC at Decatur I'm presuming) but no mention of Joey Florence, who is the mastermind, and HC, of Denton Ryan???

I'd go with Gordon Wood just based on everything I've been told about him during my lifetime.

Another guy that is relatively unknown to the casual fan, but has gotten amazing results at a team that used to be a doormat for anyone and everyone is Copperas Cove head coach Jack Welch. Those guys were one of the five worst teams in the entire state of Texas in any classification before he showed up in 1994. They hadn't been to the playoffs I believe in 34 years prior to his arrival. I believe that they've had at least 4 10-0 regular seasons since he took the job and have sent a boatload of guys to play football at the D1 level as well as several other colleges from 1AA on down. I think he's even got at least two guys in the NFL right now in Charles Tillman and Vontez Duff.

11 years ago I don't think anyone could have fathomed that they would one day go toe to toe with Judson and actually win or beat down Permian two years in a row with the game two years ago I think it was being an absolute massacre. Teams such as Killeen, Temple and Waco no longer can schedule Cove for their homecoming game. He doesn't have the state title on his resume, but what he's done with that high school is nothing short of amazing when you consider just how bad of a situation it was when he stepped in. It's also kinda cool that he's a minister as well. :)

God Bless

If you want the best recruiter go with GA Moore. He could probably even win at Whitesboro with his recruiting ability.
