I don't see West Oso or Orange Grove or Ingleside or Aransas Pass or Goliad or Mathis listed. Beware of the Howling Bear!

PhiI C: I don't see West Oso or Orange Grove or Ingleside or Aransas Pass or Goliad or Mathis listed. Beware of the Howling Bear! that poll would be in the top 300 teams with most of those rank 100 to 300. Ingleside not sure if they top 50, dont know if they have as good a team as last year, have to wait and see.

I don't understand why Wylie is ranked so low on the list....#13??? What were they thinking....Sure hope we prove them wrong...

Palestine definitely should have gotten some votes. A lot of skilled players on that Wildcat team coming back.

R u serious? What difference does it make anyway? Polls dont mean much. You still have to play the games.

That's a hoot! (Sorry, Manor folks.)

I don't put much stock in the AP poll most of the time. But the top 10 they've chosen isn't too different than what I expected them to have.

Dont know why so many people complain about the polls. The polls dont win you a state championship.

I thought Sweetwater would get at least some votes.. Its odd. Snyder has been ranked in The top 10 in every poll I believe and ranked in the top 5 in 4 polls. Sweetwater shows up in the top 10 in 2 polls even ranked #1 in one of those then does not hardly even get mentioned in all the others. Why the huge defference of oppinion with Sweetwater and then So Consistent about Snyder????

I'm not so sure that Marlin should be ranked that high. I would say some where in the 5,6 range. The off. is going to score but the def. is still in need of some work and will give up points. If the def. comes together for them then Marlin will be hard to stop.

Atlanta 3-7.....wonderin' if anyone knew what the AP sees that I don't.?

I know they tend to always have an abundance of speed, but c'mon, what's all the hype?

I know they tend to always have an abundance of speed, but c'mon, what's all the hype? The Atlanta Rabbs play probably the hardest non district sked as to anyone in 3A. Go check it out year and year out. They usually play all 4A's such as Kilgore and Texas High, Marshall, Hallsville etc. They usually lose those games but boy are they ready when 3A comes around. Last season was a very bad year for Atlanta they started almost all sohopmore & juniors. The will be a factor in 3A this year if the killer non district doesn't bang them up to bad..

Good to see Troup having success in football. I know they used to have a great basketball program, were in a tournament with them at Hunington, back when Kendrick Perkins was playing with them.

PHS Wildcats,

Don't worry about it, apparently the voters didn't learn their lesson last season. Palestine just needs to keep taking care of business and they will appear in the polls in no time at all.

This is how the Abilene Reporter News and the Fort Worth Star Telegram both have it.
I wonder where PHS and KTJ got their versions or if it was a joke to begin with.

I mean no disrespect to B-port, but I just don't get them being in the top 10. They were 4-8 last year. Granted, they have some kids coming back, but I can think of a couple of teams below them in these rankings that I think have better teams. Obviously, I'm an IP homer, but I think IP is better, Gainesville and I think Graham will be better than B-port. Again, I mean no disrespect, I'm just not sure why they are getting so much love.

KTJ,

It looks like the Morning News got an early version with an error that was not corrected by AP, and put it on their website.

It has still not been fixed, but I can't believe Manor was supposed to be in there.

Maybe it was last year's basketball poll.

That was Manor's record two years ago. They started the season ranked number 6 last year. Definately a typo. Nowhere near a top team this year. (or last year for that matter.)

Who cares, this is a baseless poll. This is just the opinions of sportswriters from across the state that mainly vote for teams in their own area because they have no clue what teams in other parts of the state will actually have. It's even worse than the AP All-State teams. At least the All-State teams the AP produces they get to see a few of the kids play ball in the play-offs before they vote, and they still always screw that up too. Sports writers should stick to eating at Wendys, smoking bad cigars, drinking cheap whiskey, and picking their drawers out of their rear ends. That's what they are truly good at.
