I noticed that Bridge City has a registration of 790, to start school..There were 26 homes built inside the City limits, recently, and quite a lot of homes outside in the B.C. Ind. School District....There are about 100 homes in progress of being built at the end of Roberts Street. This new construction should put them at the-- top end, if anything close to the present boundries remain, "soon".....Would others share their forecast for 3A football enrollment numbers in their School Districts???

Well no matter how many homes are built in the area you have to have kids in high school to effect our enrollment status. All of the new homes may just host senior citizens or young couples.. what have you.. In the immediate future I dont see too much to worry about. I watched attendance figures last year and the enrollment always drops about 30 or more throughout the year.

I talked to a man from Ballinger when I was there Thursday. He said Ballinger is way below 3-A numbers this year. Vet93, do you have any idea what the numbers are now?? I know you played below the 3-A numbers last year, but I had heard they were even lower this year!

I would agree with you, if these were the giant homes, being built, that we have experienced in the last 4 years; however, these 100 new homes are of the starter variety (3 bedrooms, 1 1/2 baths, 1450 sq. ft.). Now these type homes, are usually bought by younger people with children of school age.

I think that we have been running in the 330's maybe up to 340 the first few weeks of school. It was about the same last year. We turned in 354 during the last realignment so we are down considerably since then. I look for us to move down to 2A next year. Ironically last year we played Bangs a 2A and they had a higher current enrollment than we did according to their sup.

I don't have any real numbers but Barbers Hill should be at the 800 mark this year. We should make the cut one more year probally being the largest school in 22-3A. I read in the Baytown sun where Coach price predicted by the current growth at BH we would be 5A in 10 years eek! Ive heard a lot of people comparing the Mont Belvieu area to Katy back when they were 3a with all of the growth going on. There are at least 6 new subdivisions going on right now that will hold at least 75 homes a piece.

If the rumors that WOS and Silsbee are going to drop and them and Jasper and BC all end up in the same district means that 2 teams with 800+ would go into the playoffs as small schools.

The new enrollment numbers will be taken and based on last years(August 2002 thru May 2003) average daily attendance...this number takes into account the fluctuations in enrollment throughout the school year.
The last time-2002 the enrollment numbers were 345-899 students for 3A. At that time Ballinger averaged 354 students.

And all of that is dependent on whether UIL does the 6-A allignment. I know what they say and the arguments, but the fact is another classification will make UIL lots more money and I've never known them to be motivated by anything else. If 6-A happens, upper enrollment schools should move up.

SOUTHERN THUNDER, Right you are!! Thanks for the save. I asked this specific question to someone who should know recently. One of us got it confused. I just looked it up on the UIL website and they confirm your correctness. You Tha Man.

Enrollments in rural SE Texas will continoe to drop. Unless gold is discovered in Newton County, look for everyone to drop in classification.

Last time I checked the enrollment for bridge city was about 770. That was the end of last year excluding the new freshaman class. I dont beleive they are much bigger than the senior class that just graduated. I was a senior attendance office aide last year so when I got bored Id check enrollment status. They'll most likely start at around 800 then drops due to drop outs in school. So they should level out at 780 maybe lower.. I could be wrong though.

The last time I checked the three largest valley teams in 3A were Hidalgo, La Feria, and Raymondville. All the school are very close in enrollment mid-700's. All of us will stay 3A for at least a couple more years. There has been plenty of growth throught the valley, we have been the 3rd fastest growing area in the nation for a few years already. Populations almost hit 1 million.
