08-09-05 Volleyball Results

Sinton played Odem in a non-district game winning 3 - 2. I think the scores were 35 -14, 21-25,15-25, 25 - 18 and 15 -11. Both teams played very well. Sinton has some freshmen on the varsity and they played well and showed great potential. Odem played good and it is too bad they are in the same 2A district as powerful George West, Three Rivers and Freer but I think they have a shot at the third playoff spot.

I heard a rumor from a relative in Odem that they may be moving back up to 3A in the near future. Has anyone else heard the same thing?

I haven't heard anything pirate but it wouldn't surprise me that they picked up enough students to get into the 3A class again.

it would suprise me too, but boy, would i love that. i wish Taft would go back to 3A too, but i doubt that will ever happen.

Bellville beat Needville in non-district 3-0. Not sure of scores. All three games around 25-20.

Barbers Hill opened the 2005 season by travelling to 4A Port Neches-Groves and defeating the Lady Indians by scores of 25-18,25-10,25-27 and 25-23. BH will host 4A Santa Fe on Friday.

A friend of mine who lives in Odem says it is growing and expects to grow a lot even more so they may pick up enough students to get to 3A if not this year then probably in two years. It was great with Sinton having the rivalry with them but when they went to 2A football was dropped between these two schools. At least Taft kept the rivalry.

I just read in the paper where 4A Alice beat 5A Ray in volleybll. I think by the score of 3 to 1.

The best part of the game last night in Odem besides our girls winning was that they still charge only $2.00 to get in. If gasoline wasn't so high I almost would considered being the Odem GodFather! LOL Just kidding of course but I do hope Sinton ISD takes it easy on our pocketbooks in this regard especially since my property taxes are going up again as usual just like gasoline.
