i wouldn't say that cuero has the best because this is the first year for both of them. (one of them would have been starting last year as a sophomore but he broke his neck the first game)but a lot of respect will be gained as we go through the season. neither of them is very big but they both fly to the ball and they are mean as hell

weatherspoon from Jasper has good size and speed. he also is a hard hitter. seems to be well thought of by those are the ranking sorts.

Who do we have besides Jackson? When there is 7 or 8 guys on the ball it is hard to tell. I don't know about the other Downlowers at the intrasquad scrimmage this morning but I think we are running ahead of schedule. Like Oldsting said, I would like to see the line fire off a little quicker.

Sure was good to see Coop on that 30 yard TD. Chubbed up looked good. James is fast. Olguin will be a stud. Noack looked really, really good. A healthy line will be the key. Skill positions, no problem.

Just come to the scrimmage against Lockhart and see for yourself...then you can talk.....:D

Best linebacker in the state maybe we should retitle this thread how Cuero did in there inter squad scrimmage. With Lightsey gone Woodruf is going to have a break out year at linebacker for us.

LB Kendall Abron- 6'3 230 4.6
LB Dominique Buchanon - 6'1 240 4.65

I would like to see 1 5A team with 2 studs this size in the middle. Gilmer runs a 3-4, along with nose guard Mario Venters 6'0 225 4.7, the middle will be no place to gain yards this season. These guys are are man children with Buchanon playing significantly last year as a sophmore. He is just a junior while K-State is courting Abron with Hollis already there this year.

haha, what a foolish statement.....6'3 230 is an average size for most of the big 5A teams' linebackers

I guess your astute observation is why the "Stangs" stank. Check your DCTF magazine and get back to me. FYI.. UT nor oklahoma average 235 for there starters at LB. Clint Ingram (east texas) and Rufus Alexander of OU average 230.. So whom looks the fool now..study up son. Pop quiz in 2 hours.

In the future while "guessing" you shouldn't start off a reply with "ha ha, what a foolish statement" It may lead someone to believe you know what your talking about.

I dunno which 5a teams you've been watching... but I can remember Midland Lee teams, Katy teams, Duncanville teams, Converse Judson teams, Victoria teams, Southlake Carrol teams, Lufkin teams and any other teams you can think of winning with 5'11 LBS and nothing taller...

And minus Victoria, those are the top 5A teams in the state...

The linebackers on those teams do VERY well...

And if you look at most college AND NFL lb's, they average around 6 flat...

that's 6'3 deal is an over-statement...

Okay, I'll give you 6'1... they're the shortest guys on the field most of the time along with RB's...

Rice's starting Mid-LB's Jermey Hill and Robert Salinas should definatley make some noise ! =-)
