I just did a research paper over Video Game Violence. For the parents out there. Do you allow your kids to play these violent, bloody gore games. And for the people that have been playing these types of games all your life, what effects have you endured if any.

i grew up playing video games, some had violence, some didnt. i dont see how a video game has correlation with how someone reacts to real life. on resident evil for instance, zombies at every turn. but you dont see zombies in real life trying to eat brains and you would have to shoot them a million times just so they would stop moving. in madden football games through out the years, you can break every record in the game a million times over, but you dont see kids doing that in real life. that is because its all fantasy. nothing but a made up world on a disc that kids and some adults go to to pass time, avoid homework, or to break records. by no way am i saying i think kids should be in doors playing games though, there is a great big world that needs to be explored all over again and club hoses to be built w/ secret knocks to enter. but video games to promote eye hand coordination so they coulkd possibly be a better passer or pitcher later on in life, like high school sports... :D

blaming kids who are violent because of video games is just an excuse for bad parenting...IMO...

if youre gonna blame the games, for gods sake, just take them away...you DO have that power, because YOU are the parent...

think about GTA San Andreas...
a mom is now suing the company because of the hidden 'hot coffee' program that allows you to see a softcore porn scene (its no worse than a late nite skinemax flick) and god forbid she didnt want her little johnny exposed to that...i wonder if that mom knew you could also, without the code, pick up a prostitute, do your 'thing', pay her, awhen she walks out the door, beat her up, and get ur money back...

GIVE ME A FREAKIN BREAK....
i have more opinions but will hold back...for now....

jason, youve been playing too many vidio games, where in the world woud you come up with terrible ideas like this?

  , well, now that I think about it, maybe on TV? ;) sad fact is, I doubt there is anything that kids see in a vidio game, that they don't see on TV or the movies.

People make big money for coming up with those ideas in TV and Movie land. I just think its nuts that a parent could blame a vidio game for their kids problems, when they will let them watch TV all day or go to the movies and see the same things. Geez:rolleyes:

IMO, I think it's pretty crappy of the developer to put something like that in a video game anyway! I also think that a kid that acts out and tries to blame it on playing a certain video game had some deeply seeded problems to begin with and was going to be violent with or without their X-box/Playstation, etc.

I also don't find anything "alarming" in any of the Harry Potter books either.

To answer the second question though, out of 5 kids only 1 of them plays any kind of video games and that is only the sports games.

:foul:

Here's my thing: What kid has $50+ dollars to spend on a game? You'd hope that their parents were trying to teach them the value of money, but sadly it is the parents who are buying these games. And then they are crying about it on tv and trying to "pass the buck" onto the companies who make these games. They are not blameless in this, but no one is forcing those parents to buy those games.

My children will have their movies, video games, tv all monitored by mrs spiveyrat and myself. We won't allow them to watch Spongebob because of it's content (among others).
