I'm curious to see how many kids have come out for football this year in other schools.

According to the Bellville Times, Bellville had 40 freshman report, b/t 35-40 J.V. players, and 50 for the Varsity. Coach Chancellor said these were record numbers for the program.

I don't know grade breakdown, but we had 103 the first day. Compared to 52 in 2001, I'd say we're doing pretty well.

If you have over 110 are the kids going to get quality playing time and coached up enough to get good? Just something to think about. I would say a 3A school needs between 90 and 110 to field a good program. Not many more or less.

Well say 70 of those 300 will make it on the varsity team... that leaves you with 230 extra... say half of those are JV and the other half freshmen, you're down to 115 on each side... cut 'em down into A&B teams have you have 57 (AND A HALF :D ) on each freshmen and jv teams fielded with those 70 on varsity... give or take a few... and there are ALWAYS fish and jv teams who need games due to some schools not fielding fish's or jv's...

It works out very well, actually... forget scout offense/defense, you can have one offense going up against the other's defense etc...

PI had 130, but that includes Freshmen, JV & Varsity.

Also word is, that there are some very talented and highly athletic freshmen and sophmores, so we might see a few of them on the Varsity squad this season.
