I don't know how I missed all this news because I should have caught it Thursday but our USA Elite Women's Softball team won the International Cup at Madrid, Spain! Good news indeed! This team is not the USA international team but nevertheless they have made us proud.
The preliminary game results for the USA Elite ladies were as follows:
USA 6 Italy 0
USA 15 spain 0
USA 8 Czech republic 0
USA 7 Argentina 0
Chinese Taipei 4 USA 0
Amazing that they got 4 shutouts out of the five preliminary games. The USA based on their 4-1 record made the semis and got to get revenge on China Taipei by the reverse score of 4 - 0. In that game Dana Sorensen formerly of Stanford got a no-hitter! Sweet revenge indeed especially in the game where it really counted.
This set up the championship game with Italy and the USA prevailed by the same score as the first game 6 - 0 thus winning the International Cup at Madrid! Good job by the ladies.
Just one loss the whole tournament and that was when it wasn't critical and 6 shutouts of the seven games! Way to go USA!!
