does vernon still have that gym that looks like a pit? or was that the college in vernon?

i know gainesville used to play at that huge vernon basketball tourney every year around christmas. but that stopped once we started getting invited to the Fort Worth Westside Lions Club tourney.

Not sure about the gym, both the high school and college have new gyms. I have used them both! I need to use them a little more!

Hey Z Motion......look for 4 people sitting on the Vernon side wearing Port Isabel letterman jackets. The tall white guy will be me. Be sure to come up and say "howdy" to us.

What color are your jackets? I will for sure look for you. We are the visting team & my son is #35 so yell for him!!!!

Our jackets are Royal Blue, with the letters "PI" on the left front of the jacket, you CAN'T miss us.

Yes, Vernon has a sunken basketball gym. It's really nice when compared to a lot of gyms. Nicer, in fact, than the gym at the highschool I graduated from (which was a nice 5A school in Houston.)

Vernon is a very gritty team, that punishes you on defense. Especially in their secondary.
Sneaky team speed. Big tight end, that in my opinion should get the ball more in the passing game.
This team, like many others in the playoffs, is on a roll. Atlanta will pose a great challenge, but I think Vernon can hang.

I remember well the Vernon-Burnet game of '91. Burnet advanced on penetrations. There was mass confusion over who would advance after the game. What a game. Everytime I hear or read about Vernon, I remember that game. :) :)
