Question about 2-a-days

LW starts back to school on Monday, August 22. 2-a-days start on Monday, August 1. Does the UIL allow you to have three weeks of 2-a-days?

I know in AP our dates are identical...8/1 and then 8/22. :thinking:

2 a days are hell for trainers, we have to be there all four practices

wow, football season is basically around the corner, its very hard to believe time has been flying like it has been.

Usually two-a-days only last for a few days, just to get the kids back into shape. The rest of the time will probably be straight practice.

I think we did it for about a week, but ask some of the kids on the board who will be going through it... they would know better than me. I've killed a few brain cells in my life and I'm sure a few of those were from my long-term memory banks.

I got a question about other peoples two a days. What time does yall's start and end. Do you yall get to leave before the second practice?

Cause i know that we go from 8-12(or so) and we get like a 30 min break in at about 10 or so...but we dont get to leave. We dont have two practices, we have one big long one with that break in the middle.

i remember when i played for LW, our 2-a-days went from 12-3 then we'd come back for an evening practice from 5-7 usually. but that was for a maximum of about a week.

I believe that you can only have 10 days of 2 a day practices. First 5 days in shorts and helmet next 5 days in full pads. Not sure but I believe this is UIL regulated. There are rules in place to limit the number of hours a team can practice during the school week and I believe that there is a section of rules detailing how many hours schools can practice during 2 a days as well. Schools can choose to either have 1 long practice session or 2 seperate sessions. I also am almost positive that UIL sets a date that full pads are allowed to be put on. Teams in 4A and 5A that choose to have spring football cannot practice until the date set for full pads. That way no one gets more full contact practice time than anyone else.

We have two workouts in the morning most of the days - depending on which week, they're mainly at 7:00 & 10:30 OR 8:00 & 10:30. They're not allowed to leave between practices.

Our release/graduation date has already been bumped this year. I think graduation will be the first weekend in June rather than the last in May.

As for 2-a-days, ours are in the morning with a short break in-between (nobody leaves).:D

The school finance bill that will be coming out of Austin will mandate a Labor Day start date. No earlier.

I think that the school bill already has that in it. But there is a clause that says that if the state gives the district permission they can start early.

I can't speak intelligently, wish I could...I try to keep up...but figure what the heck a week or two one way or the other can't matter that much. When I grew up, we always started in September. :thinking:

Two-A-Days is a 2 week event only....The reaon yall start on agust 1st is because every year the UIL sets a date for every 3a school to start on the same day......Scrimmages do not count as 2-a-days but all the other days yall have left weill prolly be jus straight 4:30 practice!

I watched the Junction Boys last night and they went through a living h*ll....They started off with 111 kids tryin out for a football team and left with only 35 everyone else had ran off!
