Sandford hired as baseball coach at Sweetwater
By RON HOWELL/Reporter Sports Editor
Blake Sandford, who this past season led Class 2A Early to its deepest playoff run in school history, was hired Monday night as the new head baseball coach at Sweetwater High School.
He replaces Che Hendrix, who recently resigned after just one season at SHS to accept the head baseball coaching job at Class 4A Justin Northwest.
Sandford has served as Early's head baseball coach for the past four years and led the Longhorns to the state playoffs in each of the past three. Early had a 20-12-2 record this past spring and advanced all the way to the Region I-2A finals before losing to Holliday in a best-of-3 series.
Before Sandford's stint at Early, he was the head baseball coach at Class 2A Bangs for four years from 1997 to 2001 and was head baseball coach at Class 1A Bremond from 1995 to 1997
