(Ace Slone was a starter on this year's defense as a sophmore, his dad is/was/whatever a famous roper and owns a saddle company just outside of Cuero)



Slone to compete at National Finals Rodeo

- Ace Slone, a 10th-grade student at Cuero High School, has earned a position on the Texas high school rodeo team and will be traveling with fellow teammates to Gillette, Wyoming July 18-24 to compete at the 57th Annual National High School Finals Rodeo. He will compete in tie-down calf roping.
Slone, son of Mr. and Mrs. Tod Slone of Cuero, will be competing with 1,500 contestants from 40 states, five Canadian Provinces, and Australia in NHSFR, the world’s largest rodeo.
Slone qualified to compete in the Texas State High School Finals Rodeo held in Abilene, TX in June. Out of a field of the top 100 high school calf ropers in Texas, he placed in the second go round, in the finals go round, and in the average.
Qualifying in Abilene earned him a spot to compete at the NHSFR in Wyoming.

Good job Ace!! Good rodeo folks coming out of Cuero. I know James Boudreux of Cuero won the Bucs Day Rodeo in Corpus Christi this year.

lol KJ - anytime you copy and paste picutures from the Cuero Record it does that.. You should have been on the downlow when that happened during football season and the MULECREW Picture and caption was posted and a couple weeks later it showed some girls but it was still under the Mulecrew post. OMG poor Gobbla got plenty of grief from that :D

Hey I know that guy! Definitely an athelete. Awesome baseball player I might add!

He's a good guy, just a good family all around. Hope he comes out on top this week, I know he works hard at what he does.

And it's not "bring home the gold", well sorta, it's really "bring home the buckle!", although it could be made outta gold.

But they also tend to give away saddles, trailers, and other stuff as well, so he could bring home just about anything if he does well enough! Good luck Ace!!!
