Alot of people are critical of the poll, but it's the way the data is arranged that makes the site very valuable. No better way to do quick research on teams.

In my opinion heads-up matchups should be accounted for in any power rating you can come up with. Datapoll's rating got blown out of the water last nite when his #78 Lorena beat his #21 La Vega. I'm sure there will be many more to come this season.
What I thought was insane on his part on his final report last season was to not account for headsup matchups. Bandera, the state champ, was rated #8 which beat Midland Greenwood, but in his final poll had Midlnd Greenwood at #4. Same thing with Bellville and Marlin where Bellville won. He in the final poll had Bellville at #13 while he gave marlin a #5 rating which is nonsense.
My recommendation would to change his poll to adjust for headsup matches.

Why? Are you the guy that does Datapoll and now you want to demote my team by a couple of dozen spots? If ya didn't like my comment that's allright...wouldn't be the first time someone disagreed with me...

For the life of me, I can't figure how that last post happened. I logged back on and it resent my previous post. Sorry about that. I certainly would have had something more original to say if I had posted...just can't find the words...

The DataPoll is a computation of team strength based on scores. It doesn't claim to be anything beyond that. It doesn't claim to be able to accurately predict every game. No poll can or ever will. Upsets happen. Bandera is an interesting case because they were probably twice as good in late November than they were in early October. But all the scores get facoted.

Why are we so worried about polls when there is a playoff system? The DataPoll offers a site that is easy to navigate. Ironically, it's far better than any other resource out there for making your own head-to-head or comparative analysis. We should be appreciative of the hard work that has gone into making and maintaining that site.
