Gilmer, along with many other northeast texas 3a schools, have a dislike (hate is a bit strong) for Spring Hill. Very rich district with 10 black gold money makers pumping on campus. They do over achieve though with intelligent players.

I always hated Calallen until we finally beat 'em...

And we always hated Sealy until we started beating them...

Now I just focus on Cuero too much to give a rats booty bout the team we're playing...

Not 3A, but I hate both of the Carroll's. Southlake Carroll and CC Carroll.

Don't know why I hate SLC, but I do. I guess I've just always thought they were a little overrated.

Back in HS, I had a few friends from CC Carroll and their poopies don't stink. Somehow, though, they never made it past the second round of the playoffs. Once they got to all the San Antonio schools or Austin Westlake they found out how good everyone else was, LOL. It was always fun (to me) to see them knocked down a peg or two and then listen to their excuses.

I couldn't stand G-P when I was in school, and even when I was at A&I I'd run into G-P grads there and we'd just go at it. The older I get, the more I've grown to respect them. Of course, we still go at it with them but I think in my case it's alot more good natured than it used to be. That's not true for everyone, however...;)

My dislike for G-P revolves around a cheap-shot on our RB during last year's scrimmage...

Hmmm...I guess for most of us Jasper guys, it has to be Silsbee because we've been playing them since the beginning of time and there's a good rivalry in basically every sport. But for the sake of the board and a great 19-year football rivalry with WOS (along with our undying love [cough-bs] for Coach Hooks), they've got to be very involved in the discussion, too. :D

for me it has to be daingerfield. what a history and only 25 miles from us. from what i have read on this thread, lots of the hate has to do with jealosy. i am very jealous of the daingerfield program. we beat them in 03' in the first round and i truly believe it jumpstarted the program to where it is today. i think a lot of hate develops from respect. this is truly one team the whole town of gilmer respects, even though we love to beat the crap out of them. on the other hand, they have got in way more knockout blows than we have.

why the hate for Hutto? I cant stand Thorndale (used to be our rival) and Giddings, hung out on there side of the field when we were playing them, fans were very disrespectful. Well, the people i was around were rude, but I can't say all of Giddings is like that. The team i respect but cant stand is Liberty Hill, we have lost to them the past 5 or 6 yrs, never beat them! yet been soooo close. Hutto vs Liberty Hill should be a rival.

I have always hated Uvalde. When Cuero's winning ways were starting in the early 70s, they would stop us in the zone playoffs. I remember some of their fans driving through town with streamers on their car and honking their horn. They made me sick! Still can't stand them to this day!

I know who you are talking about, but can't think of his name either.
My experience with them involved coaching staff talking trash about our team in front of fans at a local restaurant. I had to get my husband out of there before something happened. From then on, I haven't had any respect for them.

I remember our senior year when we finally beat 'em we were huddled up on our knees outside of our locker-room (or was it a bathroom? very small for 60 guys), and a couple of their fans began walking in between our coaches and us as we were huddled, totally disrespectful... but I had family from there so I couldn't really hate all of Sealy ha...

Interesting post. Seems to me though that all fans love to hate teams that usually beat their team year in and year out.

It was pretty sweet when we beat them at home(Sealy) this year. It felt good not to be their whipping post anymore.

Yeah, I would call getting beat by scores like 60-6 and 76-0 being whipping posts. Looks like those days have changed though.

I do know that Sealy always enjoyed beating Cuero though. Especially in 95 when Cuero talked trash all year about the only reason that Sealy won state in 94 was because they didn't have to play Cuero. While that was true that they didn't have to play Cuero in 94, it was Cuero's fault for not making it past Port Isabel. Sealy played perhaps it's worst game of the year (5 turnovers) in the Dome against an extremely talented Cuero team and still won the game. From then on, Sealy had Cuero's number...well, that is, until the last couple of years.

Sealy, back in the day of Mills and crew. Their blatant arrogance was just too much to stomach.

I guess when you win 4 state titles in 4 years and go 63-1 in the process, you have a little bit of a right to be arrogant. Most teams, coaches, and fans can only dream of doing something like that.

To be honest, I don't really love to hate any team, well, except for Mobilehoma University in Norman.

Being proud is justified and I guess you do have the right to be arrogant but at the same time you can also choose good sportsmanship, respect, class and humility rather than arrogance.

Yeah thanks for the respect. I was on that '03 team that got the crap beat out of us. Crap hit the fan early for us in that game. But I wish that wasn't a first round game, what was it #4 vs. #6? Congrats on the state championship this year. The only two teams we lost to that year were the state champions of '03 and '04 and Gilmer '03 regional finalists, Atlanta and Gilmer, which were actually two teams we beat in '02. I'd assume to lose to two great teams than a mediocre one though.

I would have to go with Bellville. Not only do they honestly believe that their mess doesnt stink, but when they get beat they always have an excuse. It is never their fault and they always claim to be the most dignified losers on top of it. They always say, "we lost but we had more class than the other team".
