And they are expected to go even higher because of Hurricane Dennis! We have had hurricanes before and prices didn't go sky high so this excuse makes me wonder. Oh well. Get out your wallets.

they have been in the low to mid 2.30's up here for a week or so... :(

Phil, you must remember that we are getting gasoline shipments from South America. This hurricane's path ran straight through the shipping lane as the ships carrying this gasoline make port in Alabama. High gasoline prices in the US are not generally effected by oil prices so much as it is effected by our lack of refining capacity. Oil companies have not replaced refineries closed by the EPA over the years and have instead chosen to stretch the capacity of the refineries still in operation. There is not one single refinery in the US running at the levels they were originally designed for. All are running at above 100% capacity already which in turn causes a short supply of gasoline. There is plenty of oil to refine into gasoline, just not enough ability to refine the oil into gasoline. This may be more cost effective for BIG oil but it sure sucks for us. :(

count your blessings guys because i was just in california last week and prices were 2.75+

If that happens though it might cause a depression. Everytime a big change in transportation occurs we have a depression historically.

just my luck....closer and closer it gets to my 16th b-day...the higher the gas goes up:foul: :(
