District 13-5A coaches have pegged Waco High as the favorite to win the district football championship.
The Texas High School Coaches Association has released its list of district favorites as selected by coaches from each district.
Troy is the 12-2A favorite over Crawford, which completed a 16-0 season in 2004. The Pirates captured the Class 2A Division II championship.
Other Central Texas teams who were named pre-season favorites in their districts included Connally (17-3A), Marlin (18-3A), Hamilton (10-2A), Mart (22-2A), Salado (25-2A), Frost (21-1A) and Chilton (25-1A).
Other favorites in area districts included Brownwood (16-4A), Giddings (19-3A), Maypearl (11-2A) and Scurry-Rosser (14-2A).
