The race for stage 7 (please forgive my title error) has began. It will end in Germany (this year part of the race is in Germany). A German, Fabian Wegmann, is ahead of the peloton by 8min5sec. Lance is playing it safe today since it is a sprinter's race again and there is rainy weather again. The Germans would love to have a winner today since it ends in Germany. Excitement indeed!

I haven't had a chance to read the paper yet today. Any word on the crash from yesterday - is everyone pretty much okay?

Everyone is ok LH and is racing today but as for yesterday as Rob McEwen said "What a waste of a Day!" :)

Today Wegmann still leads the peloton by 8min with about 55 miles left in the race. There are other escapees but he is the farthest ahead of the peloton.

Wegman still leads the peloton but it has been cut to 7min35sec. The peloton is reorganizing so they probably want to chase down the escapees. Lance will probably drop back to play it safe.

The peloton is catching up to Wegmann as his lead has been reduced to 4min50sec.

The peloton is catching up to Wegmann fast as expected. Now his lead has been reduced to 3min50sec.

About 40 miles left to go.

The peloton now is 3min15sec behind Wegmann and realizes that it can catch him when they wish. He will probably not be a factor in the final sprint so it will probably be a sprinter's race today.

About 25 miles left to go but Alas nothing else to report!

Wegmann is only 2min45sec ahead of the peloton. The sprinters are taking over the peloton which includes McEwen.

Wegmann has crossed the German border into his home country and still holds a slim lead over the peloton.

Bad news! Another crash on the peloton at a railroad crossing. :(

The race is over for the day. McEwen has won today's stage. Lance still has the overall leader. I don't think the crash was serious and I say that loosely but what I mainly mean is that no one was appearantly seriously hurt.

Even though Wagmann didn't win he made a good showing which should please the Germans plus he did win a sprint during the race.

As I have said Lance retains the yellow jersey and there is no change in the overall leaders today since they played it safe.
