He was one of the most highly recruited basketball players in the country but he was drafted by Utah in the second round which was a disappointed to him and his family. Utah is supposed to be making an offer to him today so he may sign or consider it. If he signs then he will not be going to UT this fall.

You don't have to have an agent to be drafted and CJ doesn't.

it is better for Utah to try and convince him to go to the University of Texas and develop some, rather than go right into the league and sit on the bench. by having him develop at UT, he is still property of Utah, then in 2006 or 2007.. he can go to the league with the caliber of a lottery player rather than slowly develop on the bench for those 2 years.

my opinion, go to school, get better.

What happens if he goes to UT, gets better, then goes back to Utah? Will he get guaranteed money then? will he get the same amount of money that he would now, being that he will not be a lottery pick, because he is already their property.

i am pretty sure he would get a nice deal when that happens.

its like baseball, if you get drafted out of high school, the team that drafted you owns the rights to until a certain date....if you go to school, you'll be under no obligation to the original team that drafted you...

Today a Utah Jazz spokesman said that they made an offer to him and it was up to him to come there or go to Texas. He said they mainly drafted him for the future so they don't mind if he goes to Texas for a while. We will see.

It looks like today that the Utah Jazz is going to sign him to a two year guaranteed contract which is what he and his father wanted so it looks like it is bye bye to UT. Fortunately this will be the last year that things like this will happen to colleges since the NBA has caped the entrance age at 19. Still colleges that get the best high school players will have to get used to one year wonders but I guess that is better than no year wonders.

It's getting old - enough. Have your rivalry, but stop bashing them.

Down year? Sure, maybe, but they still did well enough to make it to the NCAA tourney.
