It is easier to find a house than it is a home. And according to John Chancellor, Barbers Hill was a place that feels like home. The Barbers Hill school board was also comfortable with Chancellor, as it made the decision to hire him as the head coach of the high school girls basketball team. Chancellor, who is the son of Van Chancellor, the head coach of the WNBA Houston Comets, comes to Barbers Hill from Thurgood Marshall High School in the Fort Bend ISD, where he was the girls head coach. Chancellor has coached collegiately in Kansas and at the high school level in Mississippi. He was also a member of the coaching staff of the 2004 U.S. Women’s Olympic Basketball Team, which won the gold medal.(click headline for story)

Note: Marshall's record for last year was 13-11(not all scores recorded) for the season and 5-11 in a very competitive District 20-5A. The top 3 teams in this district were Dulles (34-2), Willowridge (24-9) and Hightower (25-8).

Yall got a pretty good boy's coach as well. Coach Toon should do well over there with the talent yall have. He took an Orangefield team that didn't have a lot of talent, but just out-hustled and out played teams, to the playoffs for the first time in 46 years. He gets everything out of his kids and our boy's team last year was really fun to watch. No superstars, they just played together as a team and got after you. He'll do well over there.
