Come someone tell me anything about Anahuac? My buddy just took a coaching job there.

I can tell you a little about them since they are in our district 24. They had a number of down years, but for about three years now their program has been on the up. Coach Martel came in there and really turned that program around. They missed the playoffs last year, but have a really good QB coming back this year so they will be in the playoff hunt again. They are one of the smallest schools in 3A, but do have some talent. I really don't see Martel there that much longer. I think if he has another good year this year, he will leave for a bigger school. He seems to get all out of his players. Seems to be a really good coach.

played them in 7 on 7 at the Victoria tournament and beat them 35-17, quarterback was accurate but didn't have a strong arm, defense was a little shaky

Maybe to the Southerners in the state. ;) The reason I knew how Anahuacians (is that a word  ) pronounce it is for about a month, I worked with a lady who was moving back there.

stupid panthers, it was crazy because we, the liberty panthers, would call them the copycats growing up

rumor was one year that we sued them to change their names while they were still in our district..they were thinking apparently of changing their name to the anahuac gators, but then again that was when it was liberty, Hardin, hardin jefferson, huffman, hampshire and bhill as a district
