I don't think we NEEDED him, as we were pretty well stocked. But who would turn down another horse for the stable?

White was the leading receiver in 20-4A in number of catches (43).

Not only do we have White, but Morris Thomas, who went to WO-S until the end of last year then left for Central, is also checking back into school and will make an impact on the field. Both kids are FAST, Thomas is extremely fast. The track coach is telling me that, with Thomas back, White, Beasley and Earl Thomas, Cuero better look out in the 100m relay... ;)

WO-S doesn't have a "Sophomore" team. We have Freshman and JV. If you are talking about Freshman, I feel for you. My daughter is in the freshman class and I've been watching them since they were in the 7th. That class is LOADED!! If all of their kids stay on the Freshman team (one may be playing varsity), they will be hard to beat. They gave up 1 TD last year on the 8th grade team (as incredible as that sounds).

Who said that no one in 3a could compete with WOS? I have said it, and I am saying it again. Few if any WOS fans made such strong predictions last year. By WOS fans I mean folks who actually live there, and/or went to school there. Sure there were other posters who talked them up. I was one of them. But at the same time I don't think I ever said (not seriously anyway) that Jasper could not compete with them. Obviously, other teams could and did compete with them last year. That will probably be true again in 05.

I will stick my neck out again. I think WOS is going to be tougher than nails this year. I may be wrong, and I guess that is a crime on this board. Sorry. :)

What puzzles me most is that there always seem to be a few posters who like to spend their energies knocking someone else's program rather than praising their own. Sure, WOS fans are proud of their program, but so are Jasper's fan's and many other fans proud of their programs. Again, having observed WOS posters since the early 90's I remember NOT ONE instance of their being rude or crude toward Jasper fans and posters. And I really have not seen anything on this Board to indicate that they have been arrogant toward other posters and other schools. That is just how I see it.:)

Hey Guys: I live in Huffman and let me say this about the WOS fans for what it's worth. They have been more than cordial to me and could not have better friends anywhere. Yes they did come down last year and loose in the first round. However I am here to tell you I have seen their team (Bay City last year) and they are the real deal. Last year is last year but they will loaded this year with a ton of speed. Read the cover story of the three-A section about the Beasley kid and you will be very touched of what a great kid he is and the character he has. They have very avid fans and some of the best in the state. Anyway good luck to each of your teams.

From an early post on this thread about WO-S 7th and 8th grade teams. I'm not sure about this, but didn't either Orangefield's 7th grade or 8th grade team beat WO-S. I thought I remembered that happening...maybe it was something else.

Just for giggles I'll add one more comparision from last years WOS and BH teams.

BC takes WOS into OT the last game of the season then the very next week BH dominates BC by 17 final 31-14. :D

Oh and I read on here somewhere where a WOS fan had never heard of BH untill last year. Some fan you are of WOS your coach is a BH alumni hence the sucess at WOS :D

We were just giving the other teams in our district a chance at the title since we won it the previous 3 years in a row:D This year we will start a new streak. BH and WOS may never play, but its fun to think about anyway:thinking:

We have only been a school since 1978. We've been 16 times in 27 years. That's about 59 percent of the time.

Over the same years that we have existed, you've made the playoffs 13 times. That's three fewer - and in a much weaker district.

Getting to the playoffs is the easy part, 23-3a isn't the toughest district in the world

Our nine-team 4A district, on the other hand, was often considered the toughest in the state. So maybe those numbers - which favor us anyway - aren't something you want to post :p
