If it is true that is. I saw ESPN news and Red Auerback who coached the Boston Celtics was quoted as saying that even though he and Phil Jackson have coached the same number of NBA championships that Phil hasn't had to build a team from scratch. He is basing that on that in Chicago Phil got there right when they had Jordan and Pippen and that at LA he had Shaq and Kobe. Of course at LA he still will have Kobe but after last year's record everyone agrees he is in a rebuilding job and if he can get a championship there that will make him the all time best coach as far as winning NBA championships are concerned and prove he can build a winner. Red seems to forget that at Boston before his first season he was lucky to be able to get a good center ED Meauley which was important because a few years later he was able to use Meauley to get Bill Robinson who became a great center for him. Also he was able to get rookie Bob Cousy who later became a great player for him as part of trade agreement and he wasn't happy at the time to get the rookie who it turned out to be one of the best players up to that time. So Red had a little help when he got to Boston himself and didn't completely start at scratch like he would make us belive. Come on Red!
