Ironically the Ladies were beaten out for the Big 12 Championship by Nebraska in May but hey we'll take a national championship over that any time. :)

For those who don't know, Coach Kearney, the women's head coach, was in a brutal car accident two years ago that injured her a great deal and killed another woman. (that woman who died was the mother of one of Coach Kearney's best athletes several years back.) Since the wreck, she's had a tough time walking and was limited to a motorized wheelchair. Doctors feared she would have to learn how to walk all over again. At the meet this week, we learned that she is doing A LOT better and is walking with a cane. This is really awesome for her and Texas. After the wreck and injury to Coach Kearney, the team was really down. We had a chance to win the NC last year, when UT hosted the National Championship meet, but we were DQ'd on the Sprint Relay because of the crappy LSU coach.

So winning this means a lot to her, the team, and The University of Texas. Congrats ladies. You deserved every bit of it.
