It appears that schools around the state are turning to artificial surfaces for their stadiums. What is your opinion? I will always go for good old natural grass, just the way the game was meant to be played on.

The new Real Play surface looks and feels great. Like KA said earlier it is way easier to maintain.

Field Turf sucks
the lil rubber tires get in your shoes, u get turf burn, u can litterally feel the heat coming off of it.. it may look good but it sucks to play on

I gotta agree with Keith. That turf plays a little faster than grass, and you feel a whole lot quicker out there, but what would a rainy night be like without mud? (Great point, Gobbla) Besides, injuries are much more likely to occur on turf.

I watched two years of Wimberley home games without witnessing any turf-related injuries...it's good stuff

The field turf is good stuff....looks good, doesn't get torn up when it rains and injuries are less than on the old artificial stuff....there is something to be said for real grass though...installing field turf my turn out being cheaper for school districts in the long run....I'd think there would be much less maintenence..

I like good ol' grass...except when the coach at Hunnington waters an already soaked field to try to slow down the opposing team. frown

We played all of our playoff games on the Field Turf. Personally, I like it. Also, in 5 playoff games and several 7 on 7 games, I didn't see any injuries. It looks and plays like real grass, yet you dont have to water it, fertilize it, or mow it. Easier on school districts in the long run.

i love the real grass to play on in the season cuz feels like it did when you've played all your life. but when u get into the playoffs its nice to play on artificial turf. we dont have to many fields with aftificial turf in west tx so its kind of a reward for when u make the playoffs

Less of a chance to end up like Deion Sanders a.k.a Primetime.

Real grass, duh! Football wasn't meant to be played on turf...

if your school district has the chance to purchase the "real grass" sports turf and they do not do it then that is a huge mistake. It is easier to take care of. Makes things nicer for not just the football team. If the stadium is nice enough then schools will try to play playoff games there which will in turn make the school some money or allow them to pay it off sooner. It is also something to take pride in.
