In the first game Tennessee beat Arizona 1 to 0. Please remember this is double elimination until the final 2 are left and then they will play a best of 2 out 3 games to determine the final national champion and all 8 teams are capable and anything can happen.

Tomorrow is officialy Showdown Friday. The #1 team in the Nation versus the #1 pitcher in the Nation.

Texas vs. Michigan - 9 pm on ESPN2.

Also, Tennessee plays UCLA. Tennessee has never, ever been to the WCWS so it will be interesting to see them play against UCLA, who pretty much has owned softball since it began play.

The games today are important for the winners because they will have a day off tomorrow. The losers will have to play tomorrow in what is often called elimination Saturday since all the teams playing have lost at least one game and one more loss and you go home. Four teams will be out after tomorrow. Two more will be eliminated Sunday leaving the final two to play a best two out of three series.

Way to go Lady Horns,Cat pitched a great game,17 K's. She will need to dupilcate that today if possible. The lady's offense needs to get started a little earlier today and take a little pressure off of Cat.

Can't believe their RPG avg!! 2.2 when Cat is pitching! They need some base runners!!

Michigan whips Texas 4 to 0. :( Texas now has to beat the winner of the Cal - Az game and if they pull that off they have to beat UCLA twice on Sunday. A tough task indeed. UCLA pulled off similar circumstances two years ago after losing to Cal 7 to 2 on Friday but they had the hitters which Texas doesn't this year.

Even though Texas won I still think CAT is the best pitcher but the Michigan pitcher is great too but if they exchanged teams it would have been the same score. Michigan has hitters. The first Texas batter got a hit and got on first base but that was their only hit of the game. You can't win that way. Michigan has the easiest rode to the finals now which doesn't always work out since you can ask Texas what happened two years ago. Texas needs to work on their batting this off season and get where they can hit. They have the potential but they got to produce and that will only come with hard work.

Arizona wins in 12 innings 3 to 2. A tough game indeed. Arizona's ace pitcher had to pitch all 12 innings. They play Texas tonight in another elimination game.

Back luck for Texas today as the game has been postponed due to rain. This gives Arizona's great pitcher time to rest.

After being rained delayed Alabama beat De Paul 2 to 1 in extra innings today. Alabama plays Tennessee in another elimination game today with the winner having the tough task of beating Michigan twice tomorrow to make the championship final. De Paul is eliminated. At noon today Texas plays Arizona in another elimination game with the winner having to beat UCLA twice tomorrow to advance to the final game. A tough road ahead indeed for the winners. The Losers are out and go home.

Texas finally beat Arizona in 11 but it wasn't easy. Texas scored in top of the 11th on a lucky break because AZ had the runner trapped between home plate and first but the third baseman threw the ball hitting the Texas players helmet letting her score what should have been an easy out. Then Alabama got bases loaded in bottom of 11th but the CAT came through with the last strikout and good defensive play on the second out by the outfielder to hold the runner at third.
Unfortunately Texas has to play UCLA later tonight against a team who has had a day's rest and with CAT having pitched 11 innings already it will be tough. Then if they win today Texas has to beat them again tomorrow. The same case with Tennessee vs Alabama winner later having to face Michigan today. Right now Tennessee is ahead 3 to 0.

It looks bad for UT because of the long games today due to rain delay. Too bad we couldn't have had that two years ago when the roles were reversed or UT might have won it instead of UCLA. Oh well.

UCLA eliminates Texas 3 to 0. It was probably too much to expect for Texas to pull it off with the rain delay being to UCLA's advantage and Texas having to beat a tough Arizona team earlier in 11 innings but that is softball. The fates are not always kind to you. Anyway a great season by the Lady Horns. Let's hope they can get their bats going next year a little better. UCAL advances to the championship against either Michigan or Tennessee and Tennessee has to beat Michigan twice to advance.

Man it is late and Tennessee and Michigan are playing a marathon. We are now in the 9th inning. Whew!

PhiI C

Would you believe we are in the tenth inning. If someone doesn't do something this old man is going to have to get to bed. Still tied at 0 to 0.

Bottom of the 10th 0-0 Tennessee up!

PhiI C

In top of tenth Michigan had a chance to score with a runner at third with 2 out but the batter struck out. Tennessee up to bat at bottom of tenth. One more inning and I will be hitting the bed. This is silly to be up this late for two softball teams I care nothing about at all.

Tennessee left two on base. We are in the 11th. If no one does anything this inning Good Night! Whew! :)

Good to see you are staying up too Tiger! I will have to leave it with you after this 11th inning! I am going to last one more. These teams are giving UCLA a good rest and edge tomorrow night no matter what happens.

She is great! Hard to believe that she had to play a game earlier today and about two games worth in this one. Bottom of 11th. If Tennessee doesn't pull it off I am hitting the bed Tiger. Whew!

Tennessee vs. UCLA in a best of 3 series starting tomrorow...

Great hit Tiger! Now these two teams have to meet tomorrow at noon to see who plays UCLA in the finals. A big advantage for UCLA. Whew! It was a great game. I couldn't have lasted much longer Tiger! Enjoyed it. Good night!

PhiI C

Michigan and Tennessee both have one loss Tiger so they have to play one more game at noon to see who plays UCLA for the finals. Too bad they can't let the winner have a day's rest after tomorrow afternoon's game.

In today's game Michigan beats Tennessee and now plays UCLA starting the best two of three games for the NCAA National Championship. UCLA has the big rest advantage over Michigan and that may be a key factor.
