Come on SR, slide those plans a few weeks! ;) Between Beasley and Moye, you are going to be missing some of the best talent in the nation.

Check out this link on Deon Beasley:

I would guess that Yoe does have some really special athletes coming up. They usually do. But someone better than Moye? That I want to see! :) And as 06 said, why didn't he play against Jasper in 04? Moye started in Jasper's semi-final game as a freshman and has been the starter ever since. And the Moye you saw against Yoe was not nearly the Moye that put up some 500 plus all-purpose yards against Gilmer in the state finals. He improved in just about every game. You saw him in one of his poorer games. So, if you have someone better than Moye, I surely want to see him. Seriously.

Ours holds 8,500 but we've had more than 10,000 (including on the track, etc.) for rivalry games when both sides were thriving. Of course, we started off as 5A, so our stadium was built for that.

Is Silsbee's stadium going to be done in time? I pass it every day going to work and it looks like they are just getting started, on the new seats that is. As for Jasper's visitor side not being much better than Newtons, I have to argue with you there. The wood seats are a real "pain", but we definitely have more seating over there, at least three times more, than Newton does! So, bring the WOS crowd. Looking forward to a great game!

Ya I think our Visitor side is larger than what you give it credit for. I have seen Neederland and PN-G pack it in up there and there still be room for the band! However, I do believe the Jasper band will have to sit in those endzone seats to fit the Jasper crowd for this game. They should add another section to the visitors side for these big time rival games. I'll try to get some pictures of the stadium. They have done some work on the stadium over the summer. A buddy of mine has been working up there well over a month now.

Tiger Stadium's adding of 800 endzone seats will be finished before season starts. The project is ahead of schedule, even if it looks slow. The building of the foundation is what is time consuming, since it is on the side of the hill that was eroding. The addition of this new seating area will solve the erosion problem. There is talk still of a prominent Silsbee business man donating a artificial turf like the one in Conroe's Moorhead Stadium, but probably another year or two away. The cost of this new seating project was $300,000, if anyone was interested. Silsbee wants their stadium to be top notch in order to host playoff games, which they have already since the opening of our new stadium. I'ts a good halfway point for schools coming from piney woods area to gulf coast.

It is a great rivalry with a history of extremely close and exciting games. Even though the standings are weighted in our favor (for now :)), it's the closest thing we have to a real "rivalry." I can't wait! Do y'all still have those "dog bones" turkey legs?

AggiesAreWe

The school is not sinking, it is just settling like new buildings do. The population on the other hand is sinking. I look for Silsbee to turn in something around 840-850 at next realignment. They turned in 878 the first year and the second year 858. The numbers are dwindling.
