The No. 5 Texas A&M softball team (47-9) fell No.8 Alabama (61-13) in front of 1,308 fans, the fifth largest crowd in school history, in the College Station Super Regional.

“This was a tough game tonight,” commented A&M head coach Jo Evans. “Alabama came out and scored early and we had to play from behind. When you get to this level of competition it is tough to play from behind but I was proud to see our players stay in the game and fight to the end. We are confident in our abilities and we will come out tomorrow expecting to play two games.”

Pitcher Lisa Gorzycki (Bryan, Texas) was named the State Farm Player of the Game after entering and holding the Tide scoreless through 3.1 innings of hitless relief with a wicked changeup keeping the Alabama offense off balance.

In the circle, Megan Gibson (Spring, Texas) took the loss, falling to 13-6 after allowing four runs, three earned, on five hits.

Alabama jumped out to an early 3-0 lead on a fielder’s choice, two passed balls and a hit in the first and solo home runs in the second and third innings before adding a fourth run in the fourth.

Jana James (Mesquite, Texas) broke the Aggies five-inning scoring drought with a one-out home run to center in the sixth, her fourth of the season.

The loss was only the Aggies’ second home loss of the season snapping a 21 game home win streak.

Going into the fifth inning Alabama is ahead 6 to 2 but the Lady Aggies have proven they can score multiple runs in innings. Still plenty of time.

After five innings it it still Alabama 6 Texas A&M 2. The Lady Aggies are coming to bat at top of the sixth. They have two more chances to get runs in or else their season is over. :(

The Lady Aggies threatened in the top of the sixth but weren't able to score any runs so now Alabama is batting. The Lady Aggies have one last chance but it will have to be a big inning.
