New DVD out featuring 2004 Buckeyes
It’s not news to anyone in Northeast Texas that the Gilmer High School Buckeye football team is the 2004 Class 3A, Division II state football champions.

Most of Gilmer watched the Buckeyes build their program the last several years under Head Coach Jeff Traylor and his staff, and finally “come together as one” with the support of an historical “Army of Buckeyes” to clinch the coveted state title on Dec. 18, 2004.

The season is just a memory now, but that memory can be relived in DVD form, and this is “news.” Local fan Lillie Tucker said she and her family want this DVD to reward the efforts of all the high school students and coaches who worked so hard to make this season successful and win the state championship title.

“This project was not designed for our financial gain, but to be a lasting keepsake for the kids,” said Mrs. Tucker.

She said the DVD includes footage from all 16 games, with highlights from Senior Night, homecoming, half-time shows, and other activities during the season. A limited number will be available at the All-Sports Banquet, but orders can be placed through May 27.

The cost of the DVD is $25, with part of the proceeds going to the Buckeye Booster Club.

Anyone interested in ordering this limited edition DVD can contact Amy Ward in the GHS Football Office or Lillie Tucker at Gilmer Elementary. Checks can be made to Lillie Tucker.
