Congratulations to the Cuero Gobblers boys track team for beating out Sweetwater by 2 points to win the state championship in track and field. Cuero did this by winning the 4 x 100 relay (41.53), the 4 x 200 relay ( 1:26.63), and the 200 m dash (21.25). Once again great job guys.

All of Cuero was sitting about 10 yards before the finish line about half way up the upper deck. Kind of a sea of Kelly Green. We were by the crazy lady that kept waving the two relay plaques in the air.:D

I still don't know how fast Brandon James is. He can overtake anybody and in a very short distance, and then just run it in. Pretty amazing to watch.

I can't wait to see him run the 100 next year. I might have to attend the state track meet and watch history in the making. 9.9 might get him on SportsCenter

For those of you who attended the meet, the biggest guy on our relay, 6'-1" 190 lbs, Stefon Hargrove, is a Freshman! He's huge to run that fast. Lead leg, Olguin is a sophomore. James is a Junior. All we need to do is find a replacement for Martell Williams and not drop the baton in the 4x400 and we will be back next year.

Great Meet all the way around . I saw some really great athletes ....how bout that girl 4A smashing the pole vault record by almost a foot 12'7 was the previous record and she set the new record 13'6 which is the best jump in the nation this year.

Congrat's to the Cuero boy's for that very impressive showing setting personal best's in both Relays in the State meet is how Championship's are won . Brandon James what can you say about this kid but:eek: like the paper said it doesnt matter what place he is when he starts ,you know where he's going to finish.

The1600 relay had my heart skipping a beat the whole time lol.

I was on the side where the homestretch was and was right about the finish line. A few friends and I were sitting with the whole Sweetwater crew, but I didn't see ya.

Oh man it looks like we were right in the same area, guess we just missed each other

I was near the top of the Sweetwater crew sitting with some nice old men and we were right in front of these Justin Northwest people. Were you more at the bottom of the Sweetwater crew?

Congrats to you guys. I saw that sea of green but there were Cuero fans near where I was sitting as well.

Cuero came back to beat Jasper twice and both times on the anchor legs. Of course in the 400 Relay, Jasper didn't run very well but that 800 relay was awesome! The anchor leg from Jasper seemed like he didn't care that the Cuero guy was coming from behind to catch him and beat him.

Then in the Mile Relay, I for sure thought that Sweetwater had given their kids a pep talk, telling them that if they won the Mile Relay, or even got 2nd, they would be the State Champions. I guess the message didn't get through to them because Sweetwater ran a really bad race in the Mile Relay.

Another sucky thing from last night--Houston Worthing FSing in the 800 Relay. Ouch.

Oh and three words for you - Lancaster Lady Tigers. Wow. Simply Amazing as they are every year.

Congratulations Cuero!

Awesome speed on the relays. Do any of those guys play football like the Jasper kids do? or do they just run track?

PS I just have to brag about Manuel Johnson, qb of the state champion Gilmer Buckeyes, who won two gold in the long jump and triple jump. Three gold in one year, not bad.

Hargrove plays, but wasn't on varsity this year... He's just a freshmen... Olguin is just a sophmore and James is a junior... the other, Martell Williams, is a senior...

Latreal Cooper would have been on the relay as well had he been able to run...
