I don't wanna go by myself! Me and my daughter went to the Sweetwater/Vernon game - it felt weird being surrounded by all these people I didn't know!! Of course, being as talkative as I am - I wasn't a "stranger" for long!! :p

Just say your going Christmas shopping. No man wants to go shopping, so he is sure to stay, and that will be a good excuse to take your daughter with you.

Thanks guys and gals for making me laugh!!

I was pretty teed off when he first told me. I guess I can kinda understand his reasoning. He's never on this board, so he doesn't feel any "kinship" (for lack of a better word) toward any other team! Greenwood isn't in it, so he doesn't really care anymore!

I guess I am just spoiled - I usually get my way!! :D

How about you could suggest to him, that you two go to the game you want to see, and then after the game is over you will do something that he wants to do and he gets to pick what it is. Would that work?

Hey Ranger Mom I like Women's Soccer but don't care for men's soccer! I only watch boys soccer when my son is playing. I only watch the men's soccer because my wife likes to watch it sometime and I have to humor her since she doesn't care much to go to high school sports at all. I finally once talked her into going to a HS game with me and unfortunately it was windy, rainy and cold so it may have been a one time deal. Oh well.

It's not a question of "letting" me go (I'll go if I darn well want to) - it's the fact I don't want to go alone. My kids don't want to go, my friends are kinda like my husband, they could care less who is playing at this point!

I reminded him that we never had a honeymoon, he doesn't think going to see Kennedale/Vernon and sleeping over at "momma's" house is much of a honeymoon!

Maybe I should just get a motel room somewhere....and margaritas!!

HMMM.....that's a GREAT idea!! I'm gonna have to throw that one out there!

I have decided to cut him some slack. I have something I have to do until 12:00 Saturday, the game is at 6. It takes about 5 hours to get there driving straight through - not counting multiple stops for potty breaks for me! I think if it was one of the local teams, he would be more "into" it. He actually wants to see Burnet play, but there is no way we can make that one! He wants to watch a State game, but next Saturday is his last day of vacation and he has to be up and out of here at 5:00 the next morning. I told him I would drive home eek! and he could sleep. I think I have a better shot for next weekend. KEEP YOUR FINGERS CROSSED!!!

But Ranger Mom at least he is letting you go to the game. I thought from your first post that he didn't want to go and didn't want to let you go. This puts a different perspective on things. Have a nice ride while your husband enjoys the soccer on tv. :)

Should be a good game. Both teams run a similar offense and Kennedale has hung up some points this year. Should be interesting to see if Vernon can stop them. According to some Iowa Park players I have spoken to--they think that Vernon will be able to run the ball against them. So if that is the case and Vernon's defense plays like last week you might see another upset win. I have heard that the stadium is really, really nice with a jumbotron screen and all the frills that a little ol' West Texas football team has never seen before!

I went to the Petrolia 1A state game by myself last year and like you I made all kinds of friends in the stands. I will have my whole crew there -- I grew up in Arlington so all my friends and family (mom, wife, brother-in-law, cousins, aunts, uncles, step kids and even people we don't even know yet) will be there. You can join us in the stands plenty of people to talk to. A huge crowd that will be yelling for my boy #35! I don't know who yells more my mom or my wife! :)

I have a similar problem. I want to go to the Gilmer/Atlanta game and my husband does not want to go because he thinks that it will be too cold sitting out Friday night. We have done it every year since we have been married. That is going to football games when it has rained and was cold and not one time was it my local team. This game is in Tyler and is only a 45 minute drive.
I would promise him special favors but that is a thing of the past. What should I do? :D :D :p :)

You're asking ME????

I told my husband that I had dedicated an entire thread just to him - it didn't phase him in the least.

He is a big fan of all the rankings and polls and what-not - I guess I could get Slpybear or Jason to start a poll about whether he should take me to the game or not!! :p :p

I would promise him special favors but that is a thing of the past. What should I do? The three stages of sex: (1) Anywhere sex- when you are first married, before children (2) Bedroom sex-when you have children and you have to be secret about the whole thing, and (3) Hallway sex-When the children are grown and you are older. You pass each other in the hallway and you say "screw you" and he says "screw you".

You got low milage out of the Christmas tree thing. You might try putting up the lights outside. I would take my wife for that!!!

Then again......I'd take her anyway. You are right!! I put the darn thing up all by myself too (9 footer at that!!).....did he help?? NOOOOOOO!!!!! He was cleaning the kitchen and cooking supper!! :D :D

KEEP YOUR FINGERS CROSSED!!!This compromise is crafty. You win!!!
