Heard where Vernon is suppose to have this high powered back by the name of Bernard Scott. Some of the reports say that he is very fast and is approaching 2000 yards. Is this correct?

Vernon has two good backs. The one kid, Scott is close to 2,000yds. I think. They also have another good back in Termayne Willie. Scott is their primary back and he is fast, fast, fast. Probably a 4.4-4.5 guy in the 40. He isn't that big, maybe 5-10 and 160? Willie is bigger and more of a power runner. Their QB is good. Had 3 or 4 picks against Graham though. Vernon will run both from the gun and from the I formation. They will mix it up with screen passes, draw plays, option.
Their defense is pretty good too. D-line has decent size, and they have one linebacker who is a headhunter. Secondary seems average, Graham smoked them for 3 TD passes.
It really wasn't about getting behind the d-backs but mostly just bad coverage and positioning.

PS- What is the scoop on this Carrillo kid from Sweetwater? Is he that good at 5-7 and 155? Sounds as if he is the playmaker for the Mustangs. Can he see over the O-line to throw? ha ha ha

Thanks for the Vernon information. Carillo is a lot better than we thought he was watching the video. Under pressure he tries to make everything happen by himself. But he is very good. Don't let anyone fool you he also has a good arm. Seems like some of his passes were just plain dropped.

I agree with whsfan. Carrillo is deceptive. He is faster than you think and extremely elusive. He has a tendency to make people miss in the open field and make the person look stupid. The tendency is to blame the defender for not squaring up and putting a solid hit on. The reality is that he makes things happen. He does have a good arm for the short ball, but his accuracy goes down a great deal once you get beyond about 20 yards. They like to run plays like quarterback draws and roll outs so that he can run the ball even in passing situations. The secret to controlling Carrillo and Sweetwater is controling the line of scrimmage and containing Carrillo on the corners and when he scrambles. If Graham can do that, then they will win the game. If they let Sweetwater get rolling on offense, then they will get in a shoot out and it could be anybody's game. As far as seeing over the line goes...he rarely if ever will throw from the pocket. They pass almost always on a roll out or waggle.

Ditto to Vet93. Carrillo is the real thing. On more than one occassion against Wylie, our defender was in great position one minute and trying to tackle thin air the next. Very elusive. With receivers that could catch the ball, he would be very dangerous. He will throw some but more often than not, even on passing plays, he is going to turn it up-field himself. D must be very disciplined and stay in lanes because he loves to reverse out and go misdirection. I think a disciplined defense throughout the entire game is definitely the key to stopping him.
