If I Had a million dollars...

I was listening to the Barenaked Ladies and got the idea off of their song "If I Had $1,000,000"

If you had a million dollars how would you spend it?

Here's the situation: You just claimed taxes then struck it rich with 1,000,000. You have a year to work out a plan for it. Money for college would not have tax taken out of it because it's for education. Other than that, you have a year to spend it

I would put 500,000 back for college.

1,000,000-500,000=500,000

With the 60 grand left I would get a new Vehicle. More than likely a Subaru WRX or STI, two great rally cars. Both have turbo, 4 wheel drive, great handling and gas mileage. Oh and they run 30,000 to 35,000.

With the rest, I would live off of. I'm sure I would need Gas money, and money to blow off.

tou could stick half of the money 500k into a mutual fund that makes about 8-10% you could stick half in bonds that make 3-4% (much safer)

you can have about 45K to live on a year without touching your original million.

dont buy stuff with your money. invest it and have your investment pay for you to live.

with a million, my kids would be set for college and my parents and parent in-laws wouldn't have to work another day of their lives.

i would invest most of it, keep some to buy 3a downlow and become the grand master mod and ROM everybody i didnt like....then, the 10 or so of us that are left will live happily ever after lol.....

Probabaly 500000 won't be enough with college costs rising over 28%+ in the last 4 years.

And surely would not put anything next to the stock market, unless you want it all stolen.

Just read "Pigs at the Trough" by Arriana Huffington.

Just an example was one guy buying a bunch of stocks, calling his friend at CNBC to push those particular stock on TV, people buying those causing prices to go up, and then the guy sold making a killing. And nothing illegal about it at all.

I would definitely retire early!

Not sure how I would invest to accomplish this, but a whole lotta life is passing me by while I spend 8-10 hours in the office each day! :thinking:
