This is old news and we've already hashed and rehashed why UT is where they are.

this will hurt them in a few years when the rates of graduation start affecting scholarships

No it won't.

This number isn't indicative of how the program is run or what is going on. All it does is gives others something to chastise UT about when they don't know why the number is where it is to begin with.

Then why is the number there to begin with? Not trying to stir anything up, just trying to get the other side of the story.

while it doesn't mention all the draftees, you can only account for about 1/10 of those in the number, at best. what you need to understand is that texas has been known, and a&m as well in the past for letting thier non-super stars fall by the wayside especially in the non-major sports

There are other factors that play into that number as well.

they get their numbers from something like this once a football player enrolls at a university as a freshman he is part of their count. If that player hasn't graduated from that university in the prescribed amount of time (5 years I think) then the university is dinged on graduation rate. So factors that aren't taken into account are if player is injured and gives up football and leaves school, if the player transfers to another school, if the player leaves school early for NFL...heck I think even if a player dies while in school(which has happened at both UT and A&M) the university is dinged. Once in school players wash out all the time be it lack of playing time or lack of academic progress. If they are going to hold universities accountable, the equation for arriving at the number needs to be changed.
