My dad told me there were five way to get on base, i can only think of four....

Walk

a bunt, because honestly... a bunt and base hit are two differnet thing

An error maybe, it's not considered a hit if it is a fielder error. Or maybe a bunt

hmmm, well you can get advanced for a no-pitch or balk, but you already have to be on base...:thinking:

i read an article in super-cuts today

according to major league baseball and espn the magazine, there are 23 ways to get to first base....im looking for the list now...

11 fair ball hits runner
12 fielder obstructs runner
13 pinch-runner
14 fielder's choice
15 force out at another base
16 preceding runner put-out allows batter to reach first
17 sac bunt fails to advance runner
18 sac fly dropped
19 runner called out on appeal
20 error
21 four illegal pitches
22 if a game is suspended with a runner on first and that player is traded prior to the makeup, another player can take his place
23 single

#22 cracked me up...and oh by the way, if a game is called due to a national disaster or some other act of God....:p

luckily we don't see many of those, but I didn't think about catcher interference...that is a biggy. I didn't know there was a rule about a 20 second failure to deliver pitch...learned somethin' new.:D
