I was just wondering how teams from Region 1 did at the regional qualifiers meet. Heres the article about how Sweetwater did at the Roscoe meet
Roscoe RQ meet has several local winners
ROSCOE -- Nolan County athletes won a total of seven events at Roscoe's regional qualifiers track meet held last Friday.
Sweetwater's boys had four victories and set two meet records. The 400 relay of Duone Cunnings, Skye Green, Joseph Banyard and Michael Williams ran a 42.10 to break the previous record of 42.36 set by Colorado City last year, while the 800 relay of Green, Alan Copeland, Banyard and Williams ran a 1:28.84 to break the previous record of 1:30.12 set by Sweetwater in 2004. The 1600 relay of Copeland, Jeremy Thompson, Banyard and Williams also won (3:21.71), and Green won the 100 dash in 10.51, edging out the 10.58 of Highland's Ryan Adkins. However, Adkins won the 200 (21.85). Roscoe's James Montealvo won the 3200 (10:47.71) and Sweetwater's Tika Smith won the long jump (17-1 1/2).
Sweetwater's Williams was second in the long jump (22-2) and Sweetwater's Joel Baker tied for third in the high jump (5-10). Roscoe's Cale Smith was third in the 110 hurdles (14.77), third in the shot put (50-5 1/2), third in the discus (159-5) and sixth in the 300 hurdles (41.42). Roscoe's Shelbe Adkins was second in the long jump (16-11); Sweetwater's Tracy Cowin was third in the discus (114-2) and Highland's Kara Martin was fourth (112-0). The Roscoe girls' 800 girls relay (1:49.73) and 1600 relay (4:09.88) were both third and the Roscoe boys' 1600 relay (3:31.72) was sixth, and the Sweetwater girls' 1600 relay also placed sixth with a time of 4:16.1.
