UT vs Texas A&M - Corpus Christi Softball Tonight.

After four innings it is Texas A&M - Corpus Christi (Lady Islanders) ahead of the Lady Horns 1 to 0!!! Unbelievable! I am a UT fan as you know but the Lady Islanders are close to my home so I will be pleased no matter what happens.

It is top of the 4th. The Lady Islanders have bases loaded with 2 outs! Meagan Denny is pitching tonight and not the CAT.

Man if the Lady Islanders can win tonight this would have to cinch them invited to the playoffs again and hopefully have a better seed than they have had in the past.

The game was delayed by lighting and then Texas got the third out of the inning and Megan got out of a jam. It doesn't look good for the Lady Islanders as Texas has got a double by the first batter.

Texas did a sacrifice bunt to move the runner to third base with one out. A single drove in the tying run so the score is tied up 1 to 1.

We go to top of the fifth as TAMUCC (Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi) got the last out. The score is tied 1 to 1.

Three up three down for Texas and they now come to bat at the bottom of the fifth. For TAMUCC Pauly is doing a great job of pitching. Both teams are pitching well and playing good defense. Neither team has made an error yet.

Starting off bottom of the fifth UT's Turner singles and gets on first with no outs.

Pauly struck out the next batter. That out could be important. We will see.

The UT batter doubled and Turner scored. Texas leads 2 to 1 with a runner on second with two out.

The next batter grounded out to third but the second base runner advanced to third. There are two outs.

The next UT batter hit a fly to ss to end the inning but Texas takes the lead to the bottom of the sixth 2 to 1. Neither team has any errors but Texas has 5 hits to 2 for TAMUCC. The fourth inning may have been critical because even though TAMUCC scored a run they left the bases loaded and missed a great opportunity.

UT's Meagan Denny struck out the first batter. What a great pitcher she is right now and is going to be.

Denny struck out the second batter and then the next one grounded out to her. Bottom of sixth with Texas batting. Then TAMUCC has one last chance.

The next batter struck out for the third out. We are at the top of the seventh inning. Last chance for the Lady Islanders! No matter what happens they have fought well tonight. I wish we could get UT and TAMUCC to play in Corpus Christi.

Second batter popped out to ss. It looks bad for TAMUCC. No one on base and only one out to end the game.

Last batter grounded out to ss. Texas wins 2 to 1. A great effort by the Lady Islanders who gave Texas a great game and both teams pitched and played defense very well. TAMUCC had a chance in the fourth inning to get more runs but only got one and that was the difference in the game. Good Game Lady Islanders and Congratulations Lady Horns for a good fight. I hope the NCAA will realize that TAMUCC is a good team and deserves a better seed in the playoffs this year.

Man any UT fan or any softball fan in Austin if they didn't make this game they sure missed a good one.

Megan Denny did a great job Dre except for maybe the fouth inning when she got in a jam but she escaped with only allowing one run and then run support by Texas won the game. She is great!
